A Lincoln-Lemington man will serve 10 to 20 years in prison for the 2015 death of a security guard at a Homewood bar.

Harvey Scott, 28, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder Monday in the shooting of Deion Nesbitt, 24, at the Rendezvous Phase III bar on Feb. 16, 2015.

At the hearing, Mr. Nesbitt’s mother, Celeste Nesbitt, told the court that her son had a zest for life.

“He was a pillar in the black community,” she said.

Ms. Nesbitt described her son as 6 feet 5 inches tall.

“I wish you could lay your head on that shoulder and feel the comfort,” she said. “Now I don’t have no one to carry me no more on this Earth.”
