A woman found dead last week in a well near the Missouri River in Kansas City has been identified as Janina Vasquez, police said Thursday. Vasquez, 27, had been reported missing from Overland Park. She reportedly was last seen Feb. 11...

In a tweet Feb. 18, Overland Park police said Vasquez had “several health issues” and was without needed medication.

The next day, workers with the Kansas City Water Services Department found her body inside a 25-foot, city-owned flood control well near First Street and Lydia Avenue.

Jenny Cochran said she doesn’t believe that her daughter did it on her own. She said her daughter had some serious health issues that would have made it nearly impossible for her to even walk to the park... She painted to help relieve some of the pain from her health issues. "She did not drive. She didn't have a car and didn't drive because of all the seizures," Cochran said.

Cochran said someone had to have picked her daughter up from her home in Overland Park. In her last text, Vasquez said she planned to stay the night with an "Allen and Nicole" and would be back the next day. No one saw or heard from her again until her body was found...

Vasquez's phone was in one of her boots and her identification was in the other. The burgundy North Face backpack that she took with her is missing, along with her bra, underwear and socks. Her phone last pings at Third and Cherry streets, about a mile away from where she was found...

The medical examiner hasn't released any information, but Cochran said she was told that Vasquez died almost immediately from a blow to the back of her head.

I would love to read over the completed autopsy and toxicology reports. Being killed by one blow is not unheard of, but I would believe it could definitely knock you out and then being out in the elements could freeze you to death.

Her body was found in a flood control well in a river park on February 19, with her jacket around her waist and her cellphone and ID in her boots

Missing from the body were her bra, underwear, socks and the North Face backpack she took with her

She had a severe injury to the back of her head and fractures to her wrists

Her cellphone last pinged a signal tower on February 12

Footage has since emerged of her leaving the Isle of Capri Casino on the evening of February 12, and getting into a red car with an unknown driver

How weird....I wonder if there's surveillance footage of her arriving at the casino. Beautiful girl, so sad.

Yes, and if her remains was in TWO parts, witch INDEED seems to be the case, then she WAS dismembered, and then there IMO is NO doubt that she was murdered.

Also...does anyone know what it was that made her suffer from "Post Traumatic Stress syndrome" ?

In Janina's Facebook there is 1 "Allen" facebook friend who lives in Olathe (ca 10-15 miles from Overland Parks where Janina lived), and this "Allen" has 8 facebook friends named "Nicole".

I hope police have checked this out.



Here is a theory of mine:

It has been stated that:

"Her (Janina Vasquez) cell phone was in one of her burgundy boots and her ID was found in the other, but her bra, underwear and socks, and the burgundy North Face backpack she was carrying are all missing."

JA meet someone, possibly two, persons.
JA agree to some kind of intimate/sexual activity with this person/persons.
JA undress and put her cellphone and ID in her boots in order to kind of hide them so that they will nor be stolen.
During, or right after, the intimate/sexual activity, something went terribly wrong, either by accident or possibly even intentionally by this person/persons, and JA dies.
The killer/killers redress JAs body and also put on her boots, not realizing that JAs mobil and ID is in the boots, in the stress/kaos situation the killer/killers miss JAs bra, underweare and socks, they also forget to bring JAs North Face backpack when they leave to dump JAs body.
IF I am right about that JAs body was dismembered into 2 pieces, I believe that the killer/killers realized that it was necessary to dismember JAs body in order to be able to transport the remains from the house/apartment where she was killed to their car without looking suspicious.
The killer/killers choice to dump JAs body in that well, IMO point to good knowledge of that very location, live in the area or worked in a bizz with some kind of connection to that very location.



Does anyone have a timeline for JAs case?

What I would like to know is:

...was the lock was broken up?
...was the fence broken / cut up?

If neither then IMO the killer/killers must have had a key to the lock or know somone who had one.

When you say JA, you mean JV correct? She was not cut in two. Her coat was around her waist.
 
I guess I'll weigh in on that possible dismemberment, too. To me, the bags don't look like body bags containing two halves of a corpse that had just been pulled from a well. Wouldn't they be lumpier, more irregularly-shaped?

I wonder if the bags actually contained equipment used to recover Nina from the well or possibly for collecting forensic evidence. But it looks like firefighters carrying the stretcher, so I'm guessing the bags held ropes, pulleys, stuff like that. Things they might keep bundled together to grab quickly if someone goes over a cliff or something.

Location of the casino in relation to the park, on opposite sides of I-29:

I'm not sure exactly where the well is, either inside the park or very close to it. The initial location I read was near 1st Street & Lydia Avenue, which is the next intersection south of Front Street.
