IL - Adrian Salazar, 18, Crystal Lake, 1 March 2015

    Adrian Salazar

Police asking for help finding missing Crystal Lake Central student, 18
The Crystal Lake Police Department is still asking for the public's help in finding Adrian Salazar, the 18-year-old who has not been home since he left 'despondent' Sunday night. According to an alert from police, the department is seeking any information on Salazar's current whereabouts. The teen, who left his home voluntarily, is considered missing and endangered, Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said.

The initial investigation indicated he was despondent upon leaving his home Sunday. Police have said it's also possible Salazar is in possession of a firearm.

Dziewior said interviews are still being conducted with those who know him.

I am in the area - my son knows who this kid is (they are both wrestlers.) My husband was actually at the site when all the police came flying in to cordone off the area. I don't have an official link, but the word is that it is him. I am trying to find out if he killed himself the day he went missing or just tonight. Apparently, they were responding to a shooting. That said, it was strange because I read this article the other day, which seemed to confirm he was still alive, but just wanted to be left alone:

Someone asked on Crystal Lakes Police Dept FB page about a victim at Canterbury. That matches what is being said on a private page of one of Adrian's friends.

I am hearing from various people that the suicide happened tonight. This really makes me wonder where he has been all of this time? Where has he been staying? Apparently the police knew he was still alive and just didn't want to be found? Why did he still have that gun? You would think a friend would make sure that he took the gun away from him and contact his family or police to try to get him the help he desparately needed. I am sure he must have slept at some point. This is just heartbreaking. Some friends are blaming the police but I don't think that is fair. They are saying he felt trapped because they were hunting for him because he posted a picture of a gun and freaked out. But I don't think that is why they freaked out. They were afraid for his safety - the police even determined quite quickly that he wasn't a threat to others, hence the end of the soft lock downs and they even said as much in the article I posted above. I think it boils down to the fact that he wanted the girl back and felt he couldn't live without her. It is really sad that he couldn't see past his heartbreak.

Victim of Crystal Lake gun shot ID'd as missing 18-year-old

Yes, sadly I just read the same thing. Such a sad story. I am waiting to hear what the coronor says about time of death. He went missing March 1, but police said they had information that he was very much alive last week. So did he take his life after that? Or was the information bad? We are just having a huge thaw here and my husband said he was found in a snow bank. My hunch is that the snow melted revealing him, and it was the first time the kids were actually able to play out in the park in a while. My husband was speaking with the sistser of the boy who found his body.

Dear Lord, this story took an even more tragic turn last night when the former girlfriend of Adrian, committed suicide by stepping in front of a train last night. Crystal Lake is reeling tonight. Such grief and tragedy for our kids.
