A woman accused of murdering her husband three years ago in Dougherty County will likely go to trial in December.

On Tuesday, Susan Embert went before Dougherty County Judge Willie Lockette for a status hearing.

Judge Lockette has set another pre-trial hearing for November 2nd.

On Wednesday, Jake Embert's children and sister watched as Susan Embert went before the judge in a pre-trial hearing.

The judge said a trial will be set on the earliest available day for everyone involved, something the family's private investigator said they are grateful for.

The trial for a woman accused of killing her husband in Dougherty County will begin on September 10.

"It is exciting to get closure for the family, to get some justice. It is always a good feeling to get a case to trial to let the citizens decide the facts of the case," said April Wynne, Chief Assistant District Attorney.

The Embert family never believed Jake committed suicide so they hired a private detective to investigate his death.

Prosecutors said they found traces of insecticide, antifreeze and arsenic in his hair fibers.

She is charged with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
