A 17-year-old schoolgirl who had just left her family home for her daily walk was stabbed to death in a Doncaster, Melbourne park, Tuesday. Neighbours heard her screams about 7pm but medics were unable to save her.

Police say it was a random attack by a stranger and have warned people to be careful, but news is just breaking on twitter that a man has been arrested in a dramatic scene that looks like it may have taken place in the same park. I'll try and get more details.

What the heck is he wearing?

The same as the guy running away from the scene, black hooded jumper and dark pants.
Was he creeping around the area around crime scene this afternoon when police spotted him?

Yes I wonder if he knew her routine too.

I saw her father and sister on the news, the poor things :(

Masa Vukotic had travelled around the world, but was only a five minute walk from home when she was killed.

She never made it back to the house in Doncaster she shared with her father and younger brother and sister.

The Canterbury Girls Secondary College student was killed as she walked through the Koonung Creek Linear Reserve on Tuesday evening.

Masa was wearing headphones. I doubt she even heard him creeping up on her. :(

I'm so confused about the conflicting news articles... does anyone know whether they have somebody "assisting them with their enquiries" or not. This poor girl, horrifying to think this sort of thing can happen in the suburbs of Melbourne.

This is just so horrible and just too horrific to believe!!

"Reports of an arrest in Doncaster began to circulate on social media shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, with Nine News tweeting an imagine of a man wearing a black jumper surrounded by police.
However, after questioning the man was released without charge. Leading Senior Constable Lee Thompson said he was not a person of interest at this time."

The killer is still at large.

The poor girl, just enjoying life, walking and listening to music and some sick :censored: senselessly stabs her!!

Police are today hunting a man, believed to be in his 20s, who was seen leaving the area after the girl screamed.

He was described as having a thin build with blond hair and was dressed in dark jeans and a jacket.

Is there something starting that we don't know about?? There is far too many random stabbings happening to be a coincidence!

Are these thrill killings?

I googled 'killing with knives games' and there are pages and pages.

Found my way here marly!

The man was spotted by traffic police in the area of the Doncaster crime scene, this afternoon, and he was apprehended for questioning by homicide detectives.

"The man bas been released, and is not considered a person of interest," a Victoria Police spokesman said this evening.

He fitted the description of a suspect seen in security camera footage running in the street moments after the stabbing.

So this POI has been ruled out and released. No arrest made yet, I can't believe this murderer is still out there somewhere :( She was killed so close to her home. I was talking to my daughters daycare teacher about this earlier and she was saying that she no longer wears earphone's while out exercising because you just don't know who is around. It's not safe anymore.

RIP Masa :(

I know what you mean. I wish they'd gone further into why Thomas Hemming was fascinated by the idea of killing someone last year. What games had he been playing? The idea has to come from somewhere.
