The stories say a knife was used, however an officer just speaking on WFTV said it was a machete. Either way, how horrible.
 
The two who died were 6 and 7
 
Neighbor Davion Lewis said he was scared at first because his neighborhood doesn't usually have a strong police presence.

"I'm not used to seeing so many cops coming down the street with guns and telling me to get in my house," Lewis said.

From the article in post 4. Just how many cops usually come down the street with guns? Lol. Just worded funny, I know.

I wonder if there was post partum depression or psychosis? I am uneducated on how long after giving birth that moms are still at risk for that. It's probably exacerbated if there is substance abuse.

Poor little kiddos. They must have been so scared.

The mother was known to the police department prior to this. She's been arrested on drug charges before:

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, McCarty was arrested in 2013 for acquiring a controlled substance by fraud. She was also charged with careless driving last month.

Must be a lot of threats...they just showed her mug shot from today. She looked totally zoned out from meds, was in a wheelchair and had on a bullet proof vest.

Cops: Mom allegedly stabs 3 kids, killing two in Palm Bay
A 7-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy are dead and an infant is in critical condition after allegedly being stabbed by their mother in Palm Bay on Friday, police said. Police were called around 6 p.m. to a home in the 1100 block of Kenmore Street Northwest about "multiple children that may have been injured or killed inside the home."

When officers arrived at the house, they saw Jessica McCarty, 33, outside armed with a knife, police said. She had visible injuries and was arrested, police said. She is listed in stable condition at a hospital.

The girl was identified as Laci McCarty. The boy, Phillip McCarty, was pronounced dead just before 11:30 p.m., police said.

"A crime like this is beyond words," said Palm Bay police Commander John Resh. "It is unthinkable that someone could do this to innocent children."

I don't believe that is a bulletproof vest, I think it's an anti suicide vest. Or whatever they are called.
 
Oh wow. What drives a mother to stab her children to death? How sad. What an awful violent death they suffered.

A 5-month-old baby boy died Monday, three days after his deranged mother killed his two older siblings in a botched murder-suicide only she survived.

At this point I'm assuming the cuts to her wrist may have only been superficial ?
Regardless, what an evil monster.

Trying to find a molecule of sympathy for this woman--like maybe postpartum depression ? But I cannot.
