GUILTY GA - Jerry Folds, 39, brutally murdered, Troup County, 20 March 2015

TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Law enforcement agencies in Troup County are assisting police in Heard County in a potential homicide investigation. Deputies with the Troup County Sheriff's Office were called by the Franklin, GA Police Department around 5 a.m. on March 21 to check a location in the 3100 block of Hammett Road. The call was made in regard to a welfare check on a missing person from the Franklin area.

Deputies arrived on scene and located the missing person's vehicle with no one inside. As deputies were searching the area, they did locate the missing person identified as Jerry Lee Folds, 39, of Franklin, GA, who was deceased and appeared to be the victim of foul play.

A 20-year-old LaGrange man allegedly confessed to a weekend murder after being arrested Sunday by investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher S. Rice of Greenville Street told investigators he stabbed and killed a 39-year-old man Saturday morning in northern Troup County, sheriff’s officials said. Jerry L. Folds, 39, of Franklin was found on property in the 3100 block of Hammett Road shortly after 5 a.m...

Christopher Rice pleaded guilty to the stabbing death of 39-year-old Jerry Lee Folds of Franklin.

Rice was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
