Maybe this thread should be relocated to Crimes Against Children.

When is the last time that anyone besides their mother saw these youngsters? Other family members? Friends? Teachers? Were they ever missed or reported missing? So many questions! Looking forward to updates on afternoon and evening news reports.

Updated article indicates there are two other children (older) also lived there and are now in protective custody.

"From that information from the community member we responded and detained her for further investigation," he said. "Right now she is in custody. There are two other children that live in the home who are older and they're in protective custody as well, not harmed at all."

Wonder what the older children know or were told.

Tom Greenwood and Holly Fournier, The Detroit News 3:47 p.m. EDT March 24, 2015

Detroit — Detroit police have confirmed that the bodies of two children found in a freezer had been there for more than a year while their mother lived in the apartment with her other children.

From 5:00 report: Surviving children are 11 and 17 now in protective custody. Youngsters found in freezer had not been seen for months. Mother was taken away in handcuffs (face obscured in video). Additional information coming up at 6:00 will include interview with neighbor whose children played with the deceased children.

From My Fox Detroit:
Neighbors and even some family members said that they had not seen the children recently. The aunt said she had not seen the kids in about a year and worry that's how long the kids were gone. Neighbors said when they asked the mom about her children, she told them that they had been at their aunt's home; the same aunt who had been wondering where the children had been.

BBM - So neighbors and family members did notice the two children hadn't been around. The part I bolded explains what she told neighbors (kids were with aunt), but I wonder what she told the aunt when she asked where the kids were (maybe with neighbors?). Such a terrible story.

:( I am so sick of parents disappearing their kids and pretending they are visiting relatives. How many times have you heard this same bull crap in the last two - three years? I can think of at least 6. And when the parents aren't pretending the kids are visiting relatives they pretend they are kidnapped but parents "forget" to report them missing.

Just so over it. These poor kiddos. And can you imagine how horrifying for the two remaining? To now know that their absent siblings were in the freezer the whole time? Horrible.

Court officer on frozen bodies: 'I'm really sickened'

A grisly discovery was made today by a crew carrying out an eviction at an apartment in Detroit: the bodies of two children in a freezer.

Court officer Lee Gordon told the Free Press today that her crew made entry into the town home in the Martin Luther King Apartments off St. Aubin Street to clear the property. Just inside the door, she said, was a small deep freezer.
