I'm very saddened and perplexed by Phillips death.
What on earth could have happened to come to this?

http://www.9news.com.au/world/2015/...abbed-in-bahamas-formally-charged-with-murder

I'm very shocked myself. I think they had been married for about 40 years and had two children. They had everything one would ever want. There were no signs of injury to her or there being a fight. He knew martial arts so could have defended himself. There were seven stab wounds. They questioned the housekeeper and gardener. Donna applied for bail and thought she would get it saying, "I'll be out soon" and sending kisses to supporters. She lost so applied again for bail but she was taken to hospital so did not appear in court but I think I read that there was no medical report. However, I read that ugly rumours began to surface on social media afterwards but I cannot find any trace of them on FB or twitter. She left his body 7 hours in the hall and I guess someone else found it and reported it.

I can only surmise that he could have fallen asleep in a lounge chair and she attacked him there. Is she mentally ill? Did she find out that he had a lover? Was it about money?

I am very curious about her motive.

Correction to above post: Married 30 years.

Lots of murders have happened because one of the partners wanted someone else and didn't want to give up the money. Sometimes they don't want to be dumped for a newer model after years of standing by and behind. But, this is simply conjecture based on many other cases, and my opinion only of what is possible.

Donna Vasyli blows kisses in court - News.com.au

Apr 1, 2015 - THE jailed Australian wife of murdered millionaire podiatrist Phillip Vasyli has blown kisses and told supporters “I'll be out” during a court ...

How could Donna be so confident saying, "I'll be out" when the body was not hidden and was lying there for the police to find in the corridor.

I can only guess that she will blame an intruder, has hidden the murder weapon and she had had time to clean herself up.

So who reported it to police? I wonder what they found that implicated Donna?

The judge denied Vasyli bail and scheduled her to reappear in the court on May 20, but she could apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

Has there been a funeral for Philip yet?

Donna will reappear in court on May 20 so that will be next Wednesday.

Such a tragic loss of a successful man who was helping others.

How can she plead not guilty? It will be interesting to hear what defence she will have or make up. I guess she will say it was in self-defence.

This seems to be the latest MSN article on this case dated May 2, 2015:

AN AUSTRALIAN millionaire accused of murdering her world-renowned podiatrist husband in the Bahamas has been refused bail for a second time.

She denies she stabbed or fought with her husband and claims marks found on her hands were from laser treatments from a dermatologist, not a deadly fight.

A judge says he denied her bail because of the seriousness of the crime and fears she would try and flee the Caribbean nation.

“It is claimed that you, on Tuesday, February 24, at New Providence, by means of unlawful harm, did intentionally cause the death of Phillip Vasyli,” Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt told Ms Vasyli during Monday’s court appearance, The Bahamas’ Tribune reported.

http://www.tribune242.com/news/2015/sep/23/no-sign-philip-vasyli-wound-was-self-inflicted/

A FIVE inch-deep stab wound in the neck that killed a millionaire podiatrist had no signs of a self-inflicted wound, a jury heard yesterday.

#Dr Caryn Sands, a pathologist with 17 years medical experience, revealed on the ninth day of Donna Vasyli’s murder trial that if a person, such as 59-year-old Philip Vasyli, had inflicted that degree of harm to himself, she would have expected to see a “stab wound to the chest, or cutting wounds to the wrist or neck”.

#The victim would have died within minutes of receiving the injury, the witness said.

On Monday, it was revealed in the report of forensic analyst Samantha Wandzek that the black-handled knife allegedly used to fatally stab Mr Vasyli at his Old Fort Bay home on March 24 did not contain any DNA belonging to his widow.

I am fascinated by the motivation of a woman who murders her billionaire husband. It appears that she was ashamed of his alcoholism so why not just leave him?

THE wife of a millionaire Sydney podiatrist found guilty of his murder in the Bahamas will have her case retried.
She appealed the conviction and yesterday the Court of Appeal in the Bahamas ordered a retrial after hearing submissions, including one which argued that the judge at the time should have told the jury about her good character.
