A worker mowing a grassy area behind the park on U.S. Highway 17-92 discovered the body. Deputies say the remains appear to have been there for five to six months. The Polk County Medical Examiner said the remains are likely that of a Caucasian man, who was at least 50 years old.

Deputies said there was no obvious trauma noted by the medical examiner.

This UID was the subject of a recent forensic reconstruction project by artists, in an attempt to identify several unknown Florida victims.

His new reconstruction bust is located here under Case #6, and there is some isotope and clothing information in his case file too:

However, when I click on the associated DoeNetwork page https://identifyus.org/cases/14112 it says 'not found'. I have tried to do some digging to see if this person has been identified, but cannot find anything so far.

None of the old pointers work. Is this the same article? http://wfla.com/2016/03/08/faces-of-9-unidentified-victims-hidden-from-public-eye/ Case #6 points to the woman Sleuthster located in post #9.

When people are identified in Namus, they don't usually generate a 404 error; it's usually a permission error. This looks like the page never existed.

Could they have been that badly mistaken about the remains initially found?

It's not the same article, but it is definitely about the same cases. The original article was less like a news story and more like a textbook study on the cases and the updated busts.

ETA: This looks very similar to the original story I posted, and has a lot of the case notes on it for each updated bust:http://news.usf.edu/article/templates/?a=7013&z=221&utm_source=art-of-forensic-100115&utm_medium=rotator&utm_campaign=usfhomepage
The link in this article is the one where the Namus returns to a 404 Error also.

I just read back through the article and it does appear that in the case notes they were talking about a "her"...so maybe they were way off when the first said it was a male. Maybe that's why they pulled the profile?

ETA: I looked through Namus and there are no Male UID's under 60 age range in Polk County now. I suspect that this is definitely the case Sleuthster linked to.

This article confirms the remains were in fact female, and she's been identified:

"This summer the DNA results came back from the UNT. A match was found in the CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). It belonged to a known offender with multiple arrests. That's how Loughman Jane Doe was identified as Jessica Rousseau, born in 1982."

COLD CASE MYSTERY: Remains found in Polk County identified

Poor woman, sounds like she has lived a rough life.
