The United Nations Refugee Agency has purchased 10,000 'Better Shelters' from Swedish retail giant Ikea. Chief Shaun Scales said the large, temporary shelters are an exciting development that will bring dramatic improvement to many people in crisis.
The shelters were created by Ikea's humanitarian foundation in 2013, to replace traditional refugee metal-frame tents. They come flat-packed, are designed to last three years and are said to take four hours to assemble.
