A Hamilton County judge sentenced the former valedictorian of a local high school to five years' probation Monday after he pleaded guilty to collecting and distributing child *advertiser censored* on his computer.

Andrew Michael, 27, of Madisonville, pleaded guilty in June to two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. In return, prosecutors dropped three other charges and agreed not to pursue an indictment for 16 pornographic videos found on his computer, said Michael's attorney, James Bogen.

Because Michael had no criminal or juvenile record, never actually touched any children, and had the support of his family, Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge John Andrew "Skip" West sentenced him to probation.

"There were no victims and no clear evidence that the defendant is likely to re-offend," West wrote in an entry Monday that requires Michael to register as a sexually oriented offender for the next 10 years

And yet, it's just a matter of time before there's a victim --
There must be something we can do about this...

No victims? How about the kids whose pictures they found? They were victims.
