The trial for Jarrod Bullie began this week.

Defendant in Beaver Falls homicide repeatedly denied knowing, killing victim

    http://www.timesonline.com/news/loca...8571abc99.html

Much of the testimony Thursday in a 2003 homicide case focused on interviews the defendant had with police and DNA evidence that was analyzed in the case.

Jarrod Augustis Bullie, 44, of Beaver Falls is charged with killing 35-year-old Robin Sue Miller in a shed on the former Moltrup Steel property in Beaver Falls. Miller was found by two teenage boys who were skipping school on Nov. 4, 2003. A 34-pound rock had been used to crush her head.

The jurors heard portions of an audio interview authorities had with Bullie at the Beaver Falls police station, and they saw a portions of a video interview county detectives conducted at the Beaver County Courthouse.

In the interviews, Bullie denied knowing Miller, having sex with her or killing her.
Zachetti said over the 12 years of the investigation technology advanced to the point where they were able to get DNA profiles from the clippings. Miller’s and Bullie’s DNA could not be excluded as a match for the profiles under the nails on one hand, and on the other hand there was a “major component” of DNA from an individual who is still unidentified.

Zachetti said there was only one other profile besides Miller’s in her vaginal cavity and that was Bullie’s. He said the chances of the DNA belonging to another African American man is 1 in 120 quintillion. There are only approximately 8 billion people on the planet, he said.

Pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht is scheduled to testify Friday morning and will likely be the last witness for the prosecution.

Bullie testifies on his own behalf in Beaver Falls homicide trial

    http://www.timesonline.com/coldcase/...f415d8770.html

A man on trial for a 2003 Beaver Falls homicide took the stand in his own defense Friday telling the jury he did not know the victim.

Bullie told the jury he had started to use cocaine around 2000 and during that time he frequented prostitutes on a regular basis. He estimated he saw about 30 different prostitutes, some he knew and some he didn’t.

On the witness stand, Bullie said before one of the recorded interviews the detectives asked him personal questions to get him wound up. He accused Popovich of trying to confuse him on the witness stand similar to what he said the police did during the interviews. He also accused the prosecution of not turning over all of the videotapes and police reports in the case as is required by law during a process called discovery.

Closing arguments are set to begin Monday morning.

Bullie convicted of third-degree murder in 2003 Beaver Falls case

    http://www.timesonline.com/coldcase/...89d2cff6e.html

After nearly 13 years, the case of the unsolved murder of Robin Sue Miller is closed.

A jury on Monday found Jarrod Augustis Bullie, 44, of Beaver Falls guilty of third-degree murder for the Nov. 4, 2003, killing of the 35-year-old Miller, also of Beaver Falls.

The verdict came after four days of testimony and more than five hours of deliberation.

After the verdict was read, Bullie removed his glasses, put his hand to his head and began to cry, saying, “No. No.”

Sentencing has been set for Dec. 2.

Beaver Falls man sentenced to 18 to 36 years in 2003 homicide

    http://www.timesonline.com/timestoda...3ef3a7bfc.html

A Beaver Falls man was sentenced to serve 18 to 36 years in state prison for the 2003 killing of Robin Sue Miller.

Butler County Judge James Ross handed down the sentence Friday afternoon for Jarrod Augustis Bullie, 45, who was convicted by a jury Oct. 24 for the November 2003 death of 35-year-old Miller.
Ross told Bullie that sentencings are not pleasant times for judges, but they are their responsibility. After reviewing Bullie’s criminal history, he said, it appears he kept getting “slapped on the wrist” and given probation for a “pattern of criminal conduct” from 1998 to 2011.

“You must be held accountable for your actions,” Ross told Bullie.

Jones told the court that Bullie plans to file an appeal. He will be withdrawing as his attorney so that Bullie can find someone to represent him who has more experience with appeals.
