65-year-old mother of 13 is pregnant with quadruplets

A 65-year-old mother of 13 and grandmother of seven is pregnant with triplets. Annegret Raunigk of Berlin, Germany previously told media she only ever intended to have one child. Her 13th child is 10 years old and she says it was a 'bit of a shock' when she discovered she was expecting quadruplets, although it followed several attempts at artificial insemination abroad. She and her children have previously appeared on tv shows.

She did not consider reducing the number of embryos after successful fertilization.

She is 21 weeks pregnant IIRC. I can't see this an ending any other way than in disaster.

How selfish. Too much of a possibility she won't live long enough to see the kids she is carrying to adulthood. There is a reason a woman's fertility isn't for the duration of her entire life.

Exactly! No one that old has any business being pregnant. I guess her other 13 kids weren't enough?!

Well, mom survived the birth (premature, by C-section at 26 weeks) May 19, and so did the babies. I don't know if they'll suffer health issues later though. Hope not.

the babies all weigh more than 2.5 kilograms (88 ounces) and should be able to go home this month. The quadruplets are a girl named Neeta and three boys named Dries, Bence and Fjonn...
All implantation of donated, fertilized eggs is illegal in Germany, regardless of age.

Raunigk, a Russian and English teacher who has seven grandchildren, decided to try to have another child because her youngest daughter, who is nine, wanted a little brother or sister, RTL said on its website.

How about, um, I don't know... "sorry honey it's not possible, you can't always have everything that you want..."
