Irish student Karen Buckley (studying at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland) hasn't been seen since 1am Sunday morning when she was last seen talking to a man outside Sanctuary nightclub in Dumbarton Street.

Police want to talk to the man. He's described as stocky and wearing dark trousers and white shirt.

I haven't found height, weight for Karen yet.

Guessing she has hazel eyes and dyed black hair from photo, but not sure.
 
CONCERN is growing for the well-being of a young woman who hasn’t been seen since leaving a Glasgow nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police have launched a major search for Karen Buckley, 24, who was last seen in the Sanctuary nightclub on Dumbarton Road at the weekend...

Karen is described as white, around 5ft to 5ft 3in with dark hair and brown eyes and had long black curly hair extensions in.

When last seen she was wearing an all in one black jump suit with red high heels and a black handbag. She speaks in an Irish accent.

Came here to post a thread on this if there wasn't one already. I am very concerned for this girl, it sounds out of character and Irish ladies can handle their drink so I don't think she wandered off and fell in the Kelvin river. Looking at her facebook it seems she has been clubbing before - not that there is anything wrong with that.

I'm hoping she knew the man and they've just swanned off on for some time together but I think the chances of this are very slim given the amount of concern for her from her friends and family. I do wonder if the police know who the man is and if he was known to her. I'd also like to know if she had her phone on her or if she left it with her friends.

I'd like to think the police will search every nook and cranny of the grounds of the Western hospital and the back of Glasgow Uni as that seems to be the area they lost trace of her. Byres Road is a busy shopping street and it is likely she would have been seen on cctv had she walked further up from Church Street.

Edit: I've just been walking around google maps, you can actually walk from the hospital grounds right into the Uni grounds through a carpark - never realised there was a pathway between the two. This part of the uni has many buildings. I wonder is the Uni closed for easter holidays so there would not be many people around - the schools still are closed here.
 
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Inspector Alan Bowater, of Police Scotland, said the force had a large amount of officers dedicated to the inquiry.

He said: "We have brought officers from all over Glasgow who I briefed this morning, they are on the ground in the west end conducting searches. We have also brought in specialist officers from out with the division to assist in that.

"Officers are also walking about the west end so if anybody has information then if they could approach the officers and give them that information. We have a helicopter to fly over the open ground areas to see if we can find any trace of Karen."

Yesterday police began a search of the area where Buckley was last seen, including a park, bushes and a small area around the River Kelvin. The search is expected to broaden out in the coming days.

In the water, regardless of drinking stereotypes -- the likeliest in terms of fatality gone missing, given geographical features.

We hope of course it's missing of her own accord, and she will reappear.
 
"A MAJOR search has been launched for a nurse who vanished after a night out at a Glasgow club.

Karen Buckley, 24, has not been seen since she left Sanctuary on Dumbarton Road in the early hours of Sunday.

CCTV last captured Karen, from the west end of the city, leaving the club shortly after 1am. She was then seen on CCTV talking to a man and then walking westwards along Dumbarton Road away from the city centre towards Church Street.

Worried friends of the nurse, who is originally from Cork in Ireland and is studying a masters degree at Glasgow Caledonian University, said it is “very unlike” her not to have been in touch with anyone."

Oh I hope she's ok. I lived in Glasgow for a while a few years back and there's a lot of drugs in the clubs. I watched someone try to spike a drink they were buying for a friend.
Hope she's just of on a bender but it sounds out of character.

This is the most likely scenario. At first I ruled the river out as I thought she walked UP Church Street which is away from the Kelvin but actually she walked "towards Church St" which is only a few metres covered. There are a lot of side streets up towards Dumbarton road that lead to the river. Had she continued up Dumbarton Rd or Byres Rd surely she'd be picked up on cctv.
 
Karen Buckley, 24, has been missing since the early hours of Sunday when clubbing in Glasgow's west end.

Ms Buckley, from Cork in Ireland, is a student at Glasgow Caledonian University and lives with three other student friends in a flat in Hill Street in the city's Garnethill.

After having drinks in the flat on Saturday, Ms Buckley and her friends left and went to Sanctuary nightclub in Dumbarton Road, in the Partick area, arriving at 11.45pm.

At 1am, she told friends that she was going to the toilet but did not return, also failing to pick up her jacket.

She was then seen on CCTV outside on Dumbarton Road talking to a man, who police are keen to speak to.

The nurse was then seen walking west along Dumbarton Road with the man away from the city centre towards Church Street.

The man is described as a white male, with short dark hair who was wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.

She is described as white, around 155-160cm tall with dark hair and brown eyes. She had long black curly hair extensions in.

She was wearing an all in one black jump suit with red high heels and a black handbag.

Did she walk west along Dumbarton Rd WITH the man she was seen talking to or alone? I can't really work that out from the articles, if she's walking west that's away from her home in Garnethill but she could be going to grab a taxi at a rank on Dumbarton Rd or Byres Rd perhaps. Anyway she sounds like a lovely lady and I hope she's found safe soon.

Looks like we all spotted Karen's case and got very worried at the same time.

It looks very serious but I'm hoping for the best.

It seems she spoke to the man then walked west alone based on what Police Scotland say.

"She was then seen on CCTV outside on Dumbarton Road talking to a male, who police are keen to speak to. Karen was then seen walking westwards along Dumbarton Road away from the city centre towards Church Street."

The man could be totally insignificant aside from being the last person known to have spoken to her.

Looks like there is a CCTV camera right at the door of Sanctuary pointing west, I would guess this is the camera in question
There's another camera on Church St just past Gallus pub which she may have been on had she walked up Church St towards Byres Rd
There also looks to be a camera on the Dumbarton Rd side of Gallus but because of the angle I dont think she'd be on it if she walked along Dumbarton Rd on the same side as Sanctuary.
 
I hope she is found safe, and quickly.
 
Just seen about this case and came to see if there was a thread. Brought up in Glasgow and studied my masters at GCU also. Hope Karen is found safe soon and is just letting off steam somewhere.
