A Bonney Lake, Washington State couple in their 20s and their baby under one year have been killed after a 20ft slab of concrete fell from a construction site onto the highway beneath.

Rescue workers knew the male driver of the family's pickup was dead, but weren't able to tell if there were other survivors in the vehicle until they could remove the concrete. The accident happened on Highway 410 Monday and caused that section to be closed until 10.15pm. Identities haven't been released but police have confirmed the couple were locals from the Bonney Lake area.

How HEARTBREAKING. Oh, some family is going to be utterly devastated. :rose: :rose: :rose:

Wow. The timing had to be just right. The odds are astronomical. How awful.

So sad. :(
They look like such a happy little family.

Why would they not close the road for this work a few hours a day or at night? This is not an accident ,it is negligence.Someone is responsable for deeming this safe.
There has been alot of construction accidents recently on jobsites in the news and I noticed the workers are hispanic.
I wonder if there is a communication problem with not speaking or reading english.I am not saying that this happened in this case, just a thought.

My son sent me the news articles on this and told me that he drives under that bridge on his way home from work. Luckily, he wasn't there at the time of the accident. This is so sad--and scary to know that my son drives through that same spot.
