CO - Ksenia Quiros, 44, Colorado Springs, 15 April 2015

    Ksenia Quiros

Mother Of AFA Cadet Who Died Mysteriously Goes Missing
The family of an Air Force Academy cadet is asking for the public's help in finding his mother.

Cadet 1st Class Alexandre Quiros passed away April 2 after being found in his dorm room with unspecified injuries. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is now investigating the cause of death, but say it's not a criminal investigation.

Alexandre's family contacted 11 News Wednesday night after his mother, Ksenia Quiros, went missing. According to her husband, Ksenia left their Colorado Springs home Wednesday morning in a 1998 red Dodge Ram. She left her purse behind.

The husband told 11 News late Wednesday night that the truck had been found at Stratton Open Space on the Springs' southwest side, but his wife's whereabouts were still unknown. The truck was parked in the main parking lot on La Veta Way, which neighbors Cheyenne Mountain High School.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

I hope they are checking the reservoirs at Stratton Open Space.
(Although with the cold weather, the fenced in reservoirs still might be locked.)

So far no success with motorcycles on the search, and Heavy Rescue is about 75 percent finished.

    This was from earlier today.

Mother Of Deceased AFA Missing; Family Seeking Public's Help
    Updated: Thu 1:01 PM, Apr 16, 2015

    [...]
The truck was parked in the main parking lot on La Veta Way, which neighbors Cheyenne Mountain High School.

Search and rescue searched the area, but lost the canine track north towards the Skyway neighborhood. The search has picked back up Thursday, and is underway in both Stratton Open Space and along Gold Camp, which runs along the western boundary of the open space.

Ksenia is 44, and described as being 5-foot-2 and 110 pounds with blue eyes. The family says she has worked at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

I wonder what she was wearing.
It's been snowing for awhile now today.
Her phone pinged at Stratton Open Space, I think it was at 10:30am yesterday, but it hasn't pinged since.
The reservoirs were checked, too. (This per the news station.)

I wonder if she was used to hiking. If so, she could have walked to Bear Creek Nature Center or the dog park.
She could have walked to Gold Camp Road.
There's also Section 16 Trailhead. Now that's a lot of hiking if she went there from La Veta Way.

What is worrisome is that her son passed away this month, and he was due to graduate from the Air Force Academy in May.
She could be grief-stricken and depressed.
    Very sad!!!
    IMOO.

She looks to be very fit. She could make it a good long way up those mountains.

My husband and I searched for about an hour around Beer Creek Nature Center today.
We also met the lady organizing the search at Stratton Open Space. We talked to a few reporters.
Ksenia was seen by a witness at the Arroyo Grande Trail around 2 or 2:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday.
    Ksenia was wearing Clogs!
Here's the latest article AND there will be a briefing by the police dept at 3:15.

"As of Friday afternoon, the search for Ksenia has expanded to the following areas:

    -Upper Cheyenne Canon
    -Section 16
    -Red Rocks Canyon Open Space
    -Garden of the Gods
    -Rampart Range Road
    -Air Force Academy recreational trails"
