Roberta Marie Ferguson
Missing since August 24, 1988 from Cultus Lake, Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date Of Birth: November 19, 1968
Age at Time of Disappearance: 19 years old
Height and Weight: 5'5", 111-120 lbs.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Native female. Long black/dark brown curly hair; brown/black eyes. Ferguson wears eyeglasses.
Clothing: She was last seen wearing octagon glasses, black stretchy pants/shorts rolled up to her knees, a black/blue tank top, dirty white running shoes and carrying an army green knapsack.
Dentals: All her teeth were present at the time of her disappearance.
Circumstances of Disappearance
Roberta was last seen leaving the Sunnyside Campground in Cultus Lake, British Columbia.
Roberta was camping with a group of her friends. At approximately 20.00 she left the area on foot, and was believed to be heading back to Surrey.
Around this time a witness observed a female matching Roberta's description speaking to a male inside a red sports car at the intersection of Vedder Mountain Road, and Cultus Lake Road. The witness described the man in the car as average height, with blond or light brown hair and a prominent jaw.
A very detailed and nicely written article:
"What happened to Roberta? 26 years later, her sisters still don’t know"
In the early 2000s, Carol and another sister provided DNA samples, in case Roberta’s DNA or remains were found on the pig farm of now-convicted serial killer Robert Pickton. Pickton is currently serving a life sentence for the second-degree murder of six women. The remains or DNA of dozens of other women were found on his farm. However, neither Roberta’s remains nor her DNA were found or identified on the Pickton farm.
Carol has her own suspicions. She believes a man who committed suicide in 2005—a suspected serial killer – might be responsible for Roberta’s disappearance. She was, for a while, her own detective: clipping stories out of the newspaper, paying attention to people’s jaw lines, searching and searching the internet. But she has no proof.

“Terry Arnold had mentioned in the jail that he was last seen with her,” Verl said.
Arnold was a convicted murderer who became the prime suspect in the death of Barbara Stoppel in Winnipeg in 1981.
Around the same time, he was also suspected in an Alberta death the year before Roberta disappeared.
“He went to take them to where [Roberta’s] body was, and it was moved, so they couldn’t,** they couldn’t [continue],” Verl said.
Arnold later committed suicide, denying involvement in the Stoppel killing
