For some reason that link is getting shortened and doesn't work.

I don't know whether this will be any better: http://www.dailypress.com/news/crime...417-story.html

Yeah my hubby is in the Coast Guard and part of his job is weighing and taping personnel and he said she would have been over weight according to their standards.

There is tons of Navy around here. There is the Northrop Grumman shipyard right across the bridge from Smithfield where they do tons of Navy work and overhauls on Navy ships. There is Navy personnel that work there while the ships are there. There is Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Naval Station Norfolk, etc. I think there is tons of Navy all over this area.

Typical weight for someone that height would go between 110 lbs and 150 lbs - depends on the woman's age (and taping). Daughter is active duty legal specialist and has to deal with those that are facing excessive weight issues (as in discharge). She suggested if this woman was a soldier that maybe she was recovering from an injury?

One can be overweight in the military. She could have been injured at some point, or some other reason. If you are weighed out of regs you are given a time period to get back into regs.

Which might be why she was possibly out running alone, so that she is not blocked from promotion or kicked out.
I wish I could see a pic or reconstruction. I am speculating that she is Ohana. Hawaiian lineage. 190 for a sturdy Hawaiian would not be unusual.

It is so strange to me that they need the public's help in this one.

My wife used to live in Hawaii and she said from the information in the article it seems like this woman could be of Polynesian descent based on her height, weight and hair coloring.

The tattoo seems to back that up as well. Perhaps she was born there?

Also worth mentioning is that if she is a Navy wife and her husband is on deployment, it could be awhile before he would realize anything is wrong.
All posts unless otherwise stated, are simply my opinion. I post with confidence and authority because I'm a smart and assertive person. I am under no delusions that I am always right, not even part of the time. Please take my opinions, just like all the other opinions you will find posted here, with a grain of salt....and the understanding that were all trying, in our own way, to help bring these angels home.

ETA: Ok nevermind. totally misread hair color.

But - could weight be from the body being in the water?

I was thinking along the lines of FiveFelines. Could she have been a transient? Could she have received the clothing from a second hand store? I was never in the Army but have several Army teeshirts to sleep in.

I would think if she was found in the water, the weight would have been taken into consideration. I would trust the weight given to us.

Her remains from the description seem to be in fairly good condition? From a cursory glance, her hoodie also appears to be in decent condition. Jmo

I think that is what the hoodie looks like, but not necessarily THE hoodie she was wearing when found. KWIM? She couldn't have been out there long though.
