NY - Her tender mercy, Long Island
In an extraordinary display of mercy, a Long Island woman nearly killed by a turkey tossed at her windshield embraced and comforted the teen prankster behind the sick stunt.
"It's okay," Victoria Ruvolo told a sobbing Ryan Cushing, 19, who begged her for forgiveness yesterday in their first meeting.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you," Cushing said through a stream of tears as Ruvolo, 44, hugged him and stroked his hair.
The highly emotional moment happened in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead after Cushing pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for hurling a fresh turkey at an oncoming car driven by Ruvolo on Nov. 13.
Even though every bone in her face was broken and she spent five weeks in the hospital, Ruvolo pushed for a light sentence for her attacker - six months in jail and five years' probation.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

She is definitely a better, bigger person than I am. This "kid" was 19 years old. There are young men that age being shot at and worse in Iraq. He needs to grow up and do something useful with his life.
