New Zealand Prime Minister says sorry for months of pulling waitress's ponytail

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key is facing a slew of criticism after a waitress at his local cafe in Auckland revealed he has been pulling her ponytail - for months.

Writing anonymously to a blog, the waitress said she had taken it as friendly joking around, at first. But the tugging and pulling went on for months, despite the waitress trying to avoid him, wagging her finger and saying no, and even his wife telling him to stop.

The last, most recent sneaky pull was as he was nipping out of the cafe door. The waitress told him point blank, if he didn't stop, she'd actually hit him. Key returned later with two bottles of wine and apologised.

In an interview with a New Zealand television station after the waitress’s account was published, Mr. Key said the hair-pulling had taken place in the context of frequent “horsing around” and “practical jokes” at the cafe.

“It’s a very warm, friendly relationship. In that context you’d say yes,” he said when asked if pulling a waitress’s hair was appropriate behavior for a prime minister. “But if you look at it now, no.”

Story is getting a little creepy now. Video reveals Key handling and barely restraining himself from pulling little girls' hair.
