The vehicle was registered out of Oklahoma at the time it was located, the owner was later contacted in Colorado.

You guys are sure finding a lot of "near misses" with the shirt design. We knew it was a long shot at best when we posted the pic. The response to this thread has been amazing, even hard to keep up with at times! Thank you to everyone for your hard work with this!

Concerning the shoes, keep in mind they were found a half mile away. They may or may not have anything to do with the case. I can tell you from personal experience that although the body was found in a rather remote area, the road is somewhat well traveled. In fact, my partner and I revisited the scene not too long ago and in the span of about 45 minutes, we saw a vehicle on the road. In other words, it's not uncommon (unfortunately) to find trash in remote areas such as this. We are not opposed to posting pics of the shoes, but we are having lab work done first which will hopefully give us a better idea of whether or not they are connected to the victim.

What do you guys think of this hawk? I know it is on a backpack but it looks very close, or pretty much identical IMO. I googled "70's hawk shirt" and this popped up. Here is the link; http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...CAoQMygCMAI4ZA

    Attachment 73069

ETA: At this link there are other images of the backpack with enlargements and in one of the images there is an artist's name at the bottom and next to the name is says 1975. I am unable to make out the name, perhaps Jim and a last name starting with the letter K? But that is just a guess. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1102116...-red-tail-hawk

Thank you everyone. I haven't been feeling well the last few days so I havn't been on WS, but something told me to hop on here tonight because I was thinking about this poor guy cause I've been following this from the start, and really love that there are 2 detectives so devoted to getting this man his name back, and so I read over some of what i've been missing and felt like I should try my millionth search for this hawk shirt, not expecting much...but then...there it was! I had to yell at my hubby to come look at it and make sure I wasn't just imagining things cause i've looked at so many hawks lol.

Here's a closeup of the tail section and artist's name on the Etsy backpack. *(Please excuse the pinkish tones. I have a program on my laptop that 'pinks out' the laptop's hues as the night gets later. Supposed to keep me from staying awake all night, lol.)

"some help" is an understatement. Excellent work. I echo my partners comment, you've done what no one could do in 23 years. Bravo!

OK, so the plan for now, if you all are on board, is to continue looking for similar missing persons to add to our alpha list. As the list grows, it shrinks as well with rule outs. I'll post the smaller list hopefully soon so you all can digest it. Keep up the good work.

I (We) can give you exact ages at time of missing, continue to post the age if death were to occur in 1991 and indicate by "ish", or both. Whatever works best for LEO.
Age at time went missing works best for us. Also the case number, like with Doe Network stuff is usually a number next to or underneath and agency name, NCIC numbers are usually a letter then nine numbers.

This is the main reason why law enforcement people look down on us. Because they claim we interfere with their work. We hinder their work. We make more work for them.

We have a rare opportunity to show we can work hand in hand with law enforcement when it comes to cold cases.

Do not create more work by contacting people who may have information needed for the case. LET THE DETECTIVES DO THE CONTACTING.

In fact that's my new motto, my mantra if you will, LET THE DETECTIVES DO THE CONTACTING
    All,

We greatly appreciate your help on this case. It has helped us more than you will ever know. That being said, please, if you have a lead or a tip and think it needs checking or vetting, forward it to either LCSODETECTIVES or MMARTY and my partner and I will take care of it. I am posting this because this is something very important. All of this information is public. The killer, for all we know, could be reading this forum as we post. My partner and I are trained professionals who take the risk that comes along with this job. We can not authorize any of you to "take police action" on our behalf, nor do we condone that. Much like we can not share all of the information with you, there are reasons we must be the ones to contact people in this case. Web searches are fine, talking to experts is fine, but contacting victims, witnesses, people of interest or otherwise are not actions that we can condone.

Thank you all again for your help in this and understanding. Don't stop the good work of research you all are doing. Stay the course. We will solve this case.

I am pretty sure we ruled out Thomas Blake based on DNA, need to go back through my notes (I thought I posted him as a rule out on here). My partner and I have been both working other cases, as well as this one, and haven't been on here in a few days. Keep the theories coming. We appreciate all of your hard work.
