Jury selection to begin in trial of James Holmes in Colorado theater massacre

It will have been 914 days since authorities say Holmes burst into a packed suburban movie theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora, tossed a tear gas canister into the crowd and opened fire. The first panicked 911 call came at 12:38 a.m. on July 20, 2012.

The gunshots came less than a second apart, round after round, until 12 people were dead and more than 70 others injured, some permanently, in the barrage of shotgun and semiautomatic gunfire let loose during a screening of the Batman movie "The Dark Knight

The Holmes trial is expected to last much of 2015; jury selection could take until late spring. And should the death sentence be imposed upon Holmes, now 27, legal experts predict two decades of appeals.

A staggering 9,000 summons were mailed to prospective jurors in Arapahoe County. It is a net so wide that in a county with about 500,000 eligible jurors, nearly 1 in 50 residents could receive notices.

But first a jury must be seated.

Hi All! I got lost as well, LOL

Just a little FYI...not sure if it will help, but it's how I have learned not to get lost! LOL!

When a thread has closed, the "reply", "reply with quote" and "multiquote" buttons disappear. Leaving only the "thanks" button.

It's pretty obvious once you see it a couple of times. If all of those aren't at the bottom of each post...then you know the thread has been closed!

And the mod always posts the link to the new thread...though there may be a few posts after that, since they give a few minutes for people to see it.

Not sure if that helps...but it's what has helped me navigate this forum!

Judge is saying that media is asking for exhibits that are not graphic as they cannot see then. Judge says it is a fair request, saying to scan them....

It appears the media is only asking for diagrams...no injury photos :moo:

Thank you QueenBee. Yes, he is my son, I have been following since the Caylee Anthony case. He came home so early that night, I could tell something was wrong. He asked if I had watched any late news...I said no. Then he told me. He said the '****s' were waving their guns around. Lucky no one was shot inside. It was a shoot out, in the parking lot. When the sirens were close they '****s' ran leaving the injured. No one thinks it will happen in their town, in a nice area, with nice people. I can only imagine some of what these people are going through. love and prayers to them...

Defense is saying they thought it was wider than that. The judge is saying they are diagrams, and he is not inclined to release the graphic stuff.....The title is motion for access to non graphic exhibits. Judge has no issue with that. Request is granted.

microphones people!!

work with us here :gaah:

Whiney defense attorneys....just stop!

Why on earth does the defense think that the victims shouldn't be able to testify about their injuries??

That seems crazy to me!
