Police in Geelong, Australia have announced they have applied to the Serious Crimes Rewards Committee for a $1 million reward for information in the 1995 stabbing of 16-year-old Ricky Balcombe. There is currently a $50,000 reward.

Charges against a local man, Karl Hague, were originally dropped after two witnesses died. Detective Senior Boris Buick says he's still a person of interest and is convinced there are people who know exactly how Ricky was killed but they're not coming forward.

Ricky's mother, Christine Loader, is desperate to know who killed her son 20 years ago, and why.

"He was my world, and I miss him so, so, so much, please just help me understand why he was taken," Ms Loader said.

Ricky Balcombe mall murder breakthrough: Bell Post Hill man charged

A BELL Post Hill man has been charged over the infamous mall murder of Ricky Balcombe in 1995.

Homicide Squad Cold Case detectives today arrested and charged long-time suspect Karl Hague with murder over the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Balcombe in the Geelong mall in May 1995.
The investigation was reviewed in 2016 and formed part of the Channel 7 Million Dollar Cold Case program, which went to air this year.
