Australia - Natalya Franklin, 9, Raleigh, NSW, 7 May 2015

    Natalya Franklin

A nine-year-old girl has gone missing after leaving her family home on the NSW north coast.
Natalya Franklin has not been seen since leaving her home in Raleigh, south of Coffs Harbour on Thursday morning, with police searching the surrounding areas. Her family says the behaviour is out of character.

Police are set to resume the search on Friday morning. Police believe she spoke with her siblings before vanishing.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

A young girl who disappeared from her family's property on the NSW Mid North Coast nearly a day ago was wearing light clothing unsuitable for the near freezing conditions that hit the region overnight.

At the time of her disappearance, Natalya was wearing bright pink shorts and a peach-coloured T-shirt. She was not wearing any shoes.

The temperature dipped to 8.2 degrees in Coffs Harbour overnight, but taking into account the wind chill factor, it felt more like five degrees, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Police from the Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command and State Emergency Service volunteers searched the family's home and surrounding properties on Thursday evening, and are due to resume the search on Friday morning

How old are her siblings? Did she say where she was going?
    Why wasn't she at school?

ETA - I see now she was homeschooled.

There is little information about her on the internet.

Where did you find out that she was home-schooled? If so one of the parents should have been there too.

I see where you got it now.

Police said Natalya had an argument with her two sisters at the family's home on North Bank Road about 10.30am, after which Natalya went to her bedroom and closed the door.

When her parents went to check on her about 12.30pm, Natalya was not in the room and the window was open. Her parents called police immediately and officers searched the property and surrounding areas, but could not find any trace of her.

Superintendent Mark Holahan said Natalya and her sisters were home-schooled, and her disappearance was "extremely out of character".

"Their [the family's] life revolves around their home and their church, with the occasional visit to Bellingen to do shopping or go to the library," Superintendent Holahan told the ABC. "She was very upset about the fight with her sisters.

Police from the Coffs-Clarence Local Area Command and State Emergency Service volunteers searched the family's home on Thursday afternoon. When they could not immediately find Natalya, they called in the police Dog Squad and officers from the Marine Area Command to search the Bellingen River.

With what she was wearing and the weather, I really hope she is okay

I don't think this is an abduction, not sure why but I feel it isn't.

Also, my comments are not posting, I get that message about my comments being too short. (Frustrating)

There is something about that photograph that is bothering me. I realize that they are not an indication of a child's whole life but as sweet as it is, an odd choice.
