NY - Amie Leland, 16, brutally murdered in her Cortland home, 8 May 2015

Police said a 16-year-old girl was found murdered at 66 Lincoln Ave. Friday in the city of Cortland.
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- A man accused of murdering a 16-year-old girl Friday was later arrested at his home, Cortland police said.

Michael S. Hammond II, 23, of 2191 Curtis Road, Virgil, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree burglary and five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said that around 3:30 p.m. Friday officers responded to a house at 66 Lincoln Ave. for a medical emergency. A person who lives at the house returned home and called 911.

When officers arrived they found a 16-year-old girl inside the house with severe injuries, including blunt force trauma and stab wounds, police said. Medical responders arrived a short time later.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Apparently, the two had a prior relationship and a list of his charges is at the end of the article.
