Websleuths Post of the Day 5/12/15 MRS GWELCOME TO THE WEBSLEUTHS POST OF THE DAY FOR TUESDAY MAY 12TH 2015
Before we get to the post for Tuesday May 12, 2015, otherwise known as TODAY, let's look at yesterday's post of the day. It's a bit different.
Derick Allen Higgins, 21, was last seen in Tallahassee, FL, 21 March 2013. The good news is Derick was found ALIVE in January of this year. He got into a car accident and for some reason the accident seemed to trigger something in Derick’s brain. Derick never went home. He lived on the streets for two years.
His wonderful parents have a Facebook page talking about mental illness and Derick's case. It is so important that we talk and talk and talk until we truly understand what mental illness is all about and how to treat as an actual illness instead like a character flaw
So, our post of the day Monday May 11th goes to mpnola for this post from 3/18/2015
mpnola wrote: " I am SO GLAD that they are using this tragedy to enlighten and educate people about mental health issues. If I had to bet, I will guess his parents will become strong advocates for early detection and treatment of mental illness. I applaud them for speaking out instead of hiding in a shell. So often, people don't want to disclose what happened. This is a case where families can learn, they can grow, they can recognize something in their child or they can have hope and guidance on what to do if they have a family member with a mental health diagnosis who is missing. Kudos to this strong family! Hang in there, Derick! You have the most
important thing in your corner- love!"
Here is the link to mpnola on Derick’s thread http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php…
Here is Derick’s parent’s Facebook Page.
We need to bring mental illness out of hiding. It’s not shameful. It’s an illness. Until we all really understand mental illness I’m afraid we will continue to have desperate street people. All of whom have slipped through the cracks of society.
Hold on while I put my soapbox away...OK, I'm back.
Here is all you do: find a post you feel is worthy of the Websleuths Post of the Day. It doesn't need to be from today (Tuesday May 12th) it can be from anytime.
If you start going through the forum like I just did you will find yourself reading up on cases that have to greatest things posted. In other words you get lost in the reading of Websleuths if you decide to try and find a post of the day. It's pretty cool actually to go back and see what posters have put up as compared to today.
On your MARK, GET SET, POOOOOOOOOOOSSSSST!
GO! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!
Ps forgive typos. No sleep. Only coffee. I feel like I am going to jitter off my flab I am so jittery right now.

The Websleuths post of the day for Tuesday May 12th had to go to Mrs G.
The thread is: MAN KILLS IMAGINARY FRIEND, TURNS SELF IN, TAKES WORLD'S SADDEST MUG SHOT
Of course with a thread title like that the ONLY place something crazy like this can happen is in FLORIDA. That's what everyone assumed anyway.
Turns out the story is actually a fake story. A fake story about a fake murder, well here, MrsG said it best...
Ha!!! So perhaps we can't file this under crazy Florida stories after all? Oh well, an imaginary article for an imaginary murder, of an imaginary friend .. seems fitting
