GUILTY UT - Darla Woundedhead, 30, pregnant, murdered, Salt Lake City, 18 Aug 2005

Salt Lake City police are looking for an Elko woman who may have been involved in the murder of a pregnant Utah woman Thursday.

Kerri Armant and other individuals are being sought in the death of Darla Marie Woundedhead.

Woundedhead, 30, was due to give birth in two months. She was killed when someone fired a shotgun through a Salt Lake City motel room doorway, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Doctors performed an emergency Cesarean section operation to remove the child, a girl, who remained in critical condition late Thursday at the hospital, according to the Tribune.

According to the Tribune, Baird said investigators "have an idea" what spurred the shooting, but he declined to say what it was, saying that is part of the evidence in the case.

He said illegal drugs might have played a factor. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the room.

A social worker at the LDS Hospital says the 8-week-old baby's name is Darla Woundedhead–just like her mom.

Lawrence Clinton Valdez, 25, has pleaded guilty to second-degree felony manslaughter and second-degree felony attempted aggravated robbery. He was sentenced to two-to-20 years on each charge, with the terms running concurrently.

Robert E. Collins, 20, was found guilty by a jury last year of murder and two counts of aggravated robbery for killing 30-year-old Darla M. Woundedhead in the Aug. 18, 2005, drug-related shoot-out at the Dream Inn...

The judge also ordered Collins - along with his co-defendants - to pay the medical bills of Woundedhead's baby girl, who is in a permanent vegetative state.

Kerri Dawn Armant, 34, was sentenced by 3rd District Judge Judith Atherton to prison terms of 10-years-to-life on each of two counts of first-degree felony aggravated robbery... As part of a plea bargain, the judge agreed to dismiss a murder charge.

Andrea Martinez, 19, was given three suspended prison terms of up to five years in prison, was ordered to spend 446 days in jail and be on probation for 36 months.
