GUILTY MN - Todd, 49, & Blake Besser, 27, shot to death, St Michael, 9 May 2015

BUFFALO, Minn. (AP) — The son of an Elk River police officer who is charged with fatally shooting his father and brother told a dispatcher he "just lost it" and killed the two, according to a criminal complaint filed in Wright County.

Christopher T. Besser, 21, of St. Michael, told authorities he was fed up with his father's expectations of him, the complaint said, without being specific.

Besser called 911 Saturday from a Kwik Trip in Monticello and told the dispatcher about the shooting, prosecutors said. Besser was arrested at the Kwik Trip less than an hour after Todd Besser, 49, and Blake Besser, 27, were killed at the St. Michael home.

Christopher Besser pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree murder, avoiding a jury trial...

Sentencing for Christopher Besser will be held Friday, Feb. 5 in Wright County District Court. Second degree murder charges carry a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, under a Minnesota state law.

A Wright County man was sentenced to 61 years in prison Friday for the cold-blooded murders of his father and brother.

Christopher Besser issued an emotional apology to a packed Wright County courtroom and asked for forgiveness after the sentence was announced as part of a plea agreement. He agreed to a plea of two counts of second degree murder that were intentional but not premeditated. He will be eligible for parole after 40 years, something family members agreed to.
