To hear one student describe what he saw, a girl was left with a gunshot wound through both cheeks. Another girl was struck in the head by a shot. Both survived, but for a moment Thursday, a routine school bus ride home turned into a ride of terror on Jacksonville’s Westside....

A 15-year-old student at the Grand Park Center said there was a planned fight at that bus stop and that when the bus pulled up, two teenage boys in tank tops were waiting.

As the bus driver tried to open the bus door, the boys tried to push their way through, but the driver pressed down on the gas pedal and tried to get away.

That’s when about five gunshots rang out and he ducked, the boy said....

Burns said police were searching for two suspects but a detailed description wasn’t provided by police other than describing them as young men.

The Sheriff’s Office said there were no arrests made Thursday night. But two people were seen handcuffed for questioning on Arturo Drive hours after the shooting.

Police said in a news release that the bus was stopped by two suspects at Ortega Farms Boulevard and 118th Street when they apparently tried to fight someone on the bus. As the bus began to leave one suspect shot into the bus, striking two female students, police said.

Other stories about how the shooting happened spread through the crowd as the students were released from the scene to their parents about 7:20 p.m.

A father of a girl on the bus said his daughter told him two girls got off the bus at a bus stop, but got back on when people in a car behind the bus flashed gang signs. The shooting happened almost immediately after that, the father said.

The students on the bus attend alternatives schools for those with behavioral issues (e.g., stealing at school, drugs and/or alcohol, damaging school property or bringing a firearm onto school grounds. I wonder if the gunmen also attend one of the schools but didn't attend Wednesday. They are described as young men, so they may be older students -- 17 or 18.

One witness claims the attackers drove up behind the bus in a car and flashed gang signs before opening fire, so this may be gang/drug related. I don't know if the girls who were shot were the intended victims. Were they the same 2 girls who got off the bus and then reboarded when the gunmen began shooting?

There's not much of a description of the suspects. It's likely that witnesses know the identity of the 2 gunmen so LE probably does, too. Hope they are in custody soon.

The name and photos of the 16-year-old wanted in the shooting appear at the following link:

[ER] is described as 5’6”, 140 pounds, last seen wearing silver shorts and blue Nike tennis shoes. JSO says he is of Hispanic descent, but appears African American. Neither [ER] nor any of the other teens involved have known gang ties.

He has arrest warrants out for two counts of attempted murder and shooting deadly missiles.

Armed police escort kids to school after bus shooting

Bus #915 arrived a few minutes behind schedule at approximately 7:15 a.m. at Ringhaver Park on 118th St. and picked up just one male student. A First Coast News crew on the scene observed just one other student and a driver on the bus when it pulled up to the stop.

So, turned out to be an armed police escort for just two students. They must feel special. :bodyguard:

I wonder if other students were driven to school by their parents, or just kept home. The father of one of the boys who did ride the bus Friday said he debated whether to drive his son to school.

It's a shame parents have to worry about their children's safety when they put their children on the school bus in the morning. Hopefully, the little hotshot will be caught by Monday.

"Just pray. Just pray. She kept reaching for me and saying, 'Mr. A, Mr. A, I want to see my momma. I want to see my mom. I don't want to die. I don't want to die,'" said Anderson.

The thought of Thursday's events are still haunting young bus driver Jerell Anderson. He says this was his first school year with Birnie buses and Duval County School District. He has worked with the Juvenile Justice system in the past, but he says he has never seen anything like what he saw on the bus – two girls shot in the head.

ROBLES FAMILY Edgar Robles, 16, wanted by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in connection with the Thursday school bus shooting. The photos were supplied by his family.
-------------
A witness said Robles laughed as he fled the scene.

Police identified Robles as the suspected gunman a day after the attack and charged him in arrest warrants with two counts of attempted murder and one count of throwing a deadly missile. Neither of the teens with him were charged.

Robles’ attorney, Robert Davis, told Times-Union news partner First Coast News his mother is in “complete disbelief. It’s every parent’s nightmare that your child could be charged with an offense of this nature with a gun.”

MOST importantly, thank god no one was killed and wishing a speedy recovery to the two girls he did shoot, bless them:rose::rose:.......and now another victim he leaves behind is his mother, if this report is to be believed.......sometimes the parents ARE the last to know and maybe she is in "complete disbelief" and awaking to her own nightmare this morning.....
thank god they captured this little monster before he did any more damage

thank you scarlettjax for the link :seeya:
