Woman goes missing from Aberfeldy holiday lodge
Police are appealing for the public's help in tracing a 61-year-old woman who has gone missing from her holiday home in Aberfeldy.

Susan McLean was reported missing from her holiday lodge in Crieff Road on Sunday night and police say they are "concerned" for her wellbeing.

61-year-old Susan McLean is from Monroe Township in Pennsylvania, on vacation.

McLean was last seen on Sunday at about 7:45 p.m. British Summer Time — which is five hours ahead of the American Eastern Time — at the Moness Resort in Aberfeldy, Scotland.

She was shown on surveillance footage wearing a black and grey waterproof jacket, beige khaki trousers and white tennis shoes, as she walked outside the grounds of the resort. Police are reportedly searching for opportunities to view footage from any additional surveillance cameras in the area.

Officers are going to door-to-door to ask Aberfeldy — a town with a population of about just more than 1,800 — residents if they have any information or have come into any contact with a woman matching McLean's description.

A neighbor said Susan McLean "is a very outdoor person and an accomplished horseback rider. She's not unfamiliar with the outdoors."

McLean, a mother of two, is a self-employed teacher of horseback riding and therapeutic riding, the neighbor said.

McLean's husband, Donald, is a former Army veterinarian who works for the USDA in Harrisburg. The McLeans have restored a historic barn at their Lutztown Road home.

Dana Colestock, a friend, described Susan McLean as a "wonderful person." "She's very outgoing, loves horses and is a great teacher," Colestock said.

Yesterday officers from Police Scotland, accompanied by Tayside Mountain Rescue, moved their search from the resort and village to the surrounding area, described the search area as “rougher countryside” including the Birks of Aberfeldy, the golf course and the hospital grounds. The Police Scotland helicopter was assisting with the search.

Scotland police are going door-to-door asking local residents to check their sheds and outbuildings in case Susan McLean has taken shelter inside.

One line of inquiry is that McLean became disorientated and “possibly come to grief.” “It’s now the best part of 48 hours since Susan was last seen – it’s out of character and unexplained. There are concerns that she may be lost or injured.” Susan McLean has “ongoing health concerns but nothing too severe.”

Hope they find Susan it is terrible when someone goes missing abroad. Aberfeldy is a lovely place to visit with little crime so I hope she hasn't come to any harm.

well i just don't know what to think! it seems like they are searching extensively.......and nothing! wow........

perplexing to say the least.......i'm at least glad to see a statement from her family on the last link......the first i think, i was beginning to wonder.........

From memory of the area (a long time ago): it's not the wildest/most isolated area.

There are abandoned pit mines in the region. Could she have gone for a walk and fallen into one? :(

I'm praying this has a happy ending, but it's looking more and more unlikely. :(

Not sure what to make of this, I think it was nearly dark when she was last seen.........would she have walked into the country at that time of the evening ? Has she fallen into a crevice or something, I don't know what the immediate surrounding of the hotel are like. Anyone here been to Aberfeldy ?

1 week since Susan's disappearance.....no news.

A mother of two, Mrs McLean is a self-employed teacher of horseback riding and therapeutic riding.

Several members of her extended family have flown to Scotland to comfort her husband and sons. It is understood that “more than one” of Susan McLean’s relatives made the journey to Perthshire, arriving on Thursday.

Scottish police call search for missing midstate woman 'disappointing' one week after her disappearance
May 25, 2015 at 12:58 PM

Police stopped motorists and pedestrians in the small town who may have a weekly routine, Temporary Chief Inspector Ian Scott told the Courier.

"Initially it doesn't appear that there's anything too positive come of that, which is obviously a little bit disappointing for us," Scott told the paper. "There was around 60 people spoken to but nothing of particular note has come off the back of it."
