[h=1]K-9 saves Hancock County deputy from ambush attack[/h]
The car, a blue Lincoln Town Car with a darker vinyl top, was parked in a rest stop, and the driver was sitting inside with no lights on around 10 p.m. Monday. Frazier got out of his vehicle and went to check on the car, which had one person in it.

"When he got out, two other people came out of the woods right by the vehicle, and he backed up and fell, and it was on then," Adam said.

"They told him they were going to slit his throat, and they were dragging him toward the woods," Chief Deputy Don Bass said, adding that authorities believe the attackers meant to drag Frazier into the woods, kill him, and dump his body.

The officer was able to press a button and release his K-9 from the backseat," Adam said. The dog bit at least one of the suspects.

The police officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.

Unfortunately, the criminals got away, but at least one was bitten. (At least two, according to one of the articles.) Good doggy!

I'm thinking that all patrol cops need to go back to having two per car, and I wish all of them could have a K9 officer in the car as well.

thank you for this story sonjay......scary to say the least!

thank god officer frazier is alive and okay! that was some good partnering by his k-9 lucas......good training and job well done!!!

in this day and age, i cannot believe his patrol car did not have a camera....i hope that is corrected as it would greatly help to have video of the perps and their car about now...........

just another example of why these officers should always be patrolling in pairs......budgets be damned........

:rose: heal quickly officer frazier, thank you for your service
:rose: job well done officer lucas, thank you for your service

Good dog, did his job and did it well!

Thanks for the starting this thread sonjay.

These issues need to continue to be brought to the foreground.

I'd be more than happy to have the budgets "rearranged". ;) We pay our taxes every year and on time.

As queenie so aptly stated "budgets be damned"...I bow to your queenieness highness. LOL.

I'd like to see some worthless programs thrown the heck out and implement worthwhile programs to assist LE with safety.

I'm so glad that this officer was not killed, but very sorry that he was attacked. I hope he has a swift recovery.
How he can have to courage and bravery to return to his job, I will never understand.

WTG Lucas!

I hope that the catch these sweet little muffins...like soon. Can you imagine how the community feels with these little darlings running loose?
Not to mention that LE is their intended target.
Lock up 'um, throw away the key. Done.

Go Lucas! :great:

Dogs with the right training are so smart, I'm so pleased this dog was there.
Hope the officer makes a speedy recovery and the Lucas was given the biggest treat!

Now, catch these idiots and throw away that key

Congrats Lucas on a job done well!! :heartbeat:

Yes, all officers need a partner and or a K9.

K9 deputy that saved partner's life sustained severe injuries in attack

(snip)
"His K9 suffered a shoulder injury and injuries to his teeth. We would imagine as he had a hold of them, they were dragging him with the car or hanging him out of the car or slamming the door on him. So, it's hard to tell exactly what happened, but we know that he does have quite a few broken teeth," said Adam.

The sheriff said in addition to the K9's leg and shoulder injury, Lucas is also recovering from asphalt burns from being dragged along the roadway.

(snip)
"It depends on how he heals. It could mean the end of his career as a law enforcement dog," said Adam.

The sheriff said when caught, the three suspects will face assault charges on a K9 deputy as well as Fraizer.

(snip)
Sheriff Adam said blood from the suspects collected at the scene has been sent off to the state crime lab in Jackson for testing.
