    Body discovered in Burrillville

Police unearthed human remains believed to be those of a missing Worcester man after returning to 505 Douglas Pike for the third time in less than two weeks in attempts to locate him.

The suspected body of Domingo Ortiz, 60, was found in a shallow grave beneath a recently built exterior deck on the neglected house, located just south of the Western Hotel in the town’s Nasonville section. The grave had been sealed with a layer of concrete.

Police arrived at the rural site about 8 a.m. Friday with shovels, rakes, chainsaws, surveying tools and, later, jackhammers, which they used to smash their way through the cement, which was about four to five inches thick.

Incredible - the tip came from an astute neighbor.

The owner of a gas station down the street from the home, has been in contact with the family of Ortiz trying to help them with their search.

He says he actually alerted authorities about the deck where the body was found.

"I ride by this street 4, 5, 6 times a day. And I noticed that the deck was made with no footings. Then, coincidentally or not, maybe two or three days after the disappearance of Mr. Ortiz, I noticed fresh cement poured underneath the deck,” said Steve Biron.

A Rhode Island woman has been charged with the killing of 60-year-old Worcester resident Domingo Ortiz.

The woman is a resident of a house in Burrillville, Rhode Island, where the body of Mr. Ortiz was found buried under freshly poured concrete under a newly constructed deck. A man who also lives at the Burrillville house is expected to be charged in the killing Monday, police said.

Michelle A. Morin, 40, of 505 Douglas Pike, Burrillville, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon at 205 Millbury St., Apt. 3R, in Worcester by Worcester and Burrillville police and members of the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force, Burrillville police said Sunday. She was charged with murder and is being held by authorities pending her arraignment and extradition hearing Monday in Central District Court in Worcester.

Police said Steven A. Pietrowicz, 39, of the same address, will also be charged with murder when he appears Monday in the 6th District Court in Providence. Mr. Pietrowicz was arrested last week in Kelley Square on a warrant from Rhode Island. He is being held in Rhode Island on a charge of domestic assault.

RIP - I wish that it didn't happen that way.

This whole story also reminds of another one I heard about the illiterate black guy named Abraham Shakespeare - he won a lottery and paid for it with his life:

Rhode Island man gets life in death of man buried under concrete

    http://www.thewesterlysun.com/news/l...an-buried.html

Steven Pietrowicz, of Burrillville, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder, conspiracy, and several other offenses in the May 2015 killing of 60-year-old Domingo Ortiz, of Worcester, Mass.
    http://www.providencejournal.com/new...ied-under-deck

A Providence County grand jury in October handed up indictments of Morin; Pietrowicz; and Corey Bickhardt, of Sciota, Pennsylvania, each on one count of conspiracy, one count of murder, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of failure to report a death. Denise Walker, of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, was charged with one count of failure to report a death.

Erickson revealed Thursday that a grand jury had also indicted Elizabeth Tarasiak, 61, the landlord who called police to get Ortiz’s family off the property as they searched for him, on a charge of failure to report a death. The other defendants have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial.
