Blanco River runs roughshod
After a foot of rain dumps on Blanco County, a wall of water rushes down the Blanco River into Wimberley, San Marcos and beyond.

Central Texans have been watching and hoping for a “rain bomb” to thoroughly extinguish a years-long drought and replenish dangerously low reservoirs. A former governor even suggested that Texans pray for such relief.

Overnight Saturday, that big rain came, dumping up to a foot of rain over a large expanse of the Hill County, Austin and points to the east. The rainfall sparked a rapid rise in storage lakes throughout the area, but the storm exacted a steep price.

And in south central TX....

San Antonio gets small reprieve, but more storms coming

---
The third rescue was a family of four at Austin Highway and Ira Lee, Christian Bove, San Antonio Fire Department spokesman, said, adding that the driver was issued a citation, carrying a fine of up to $2,000.

Lived right near there; didn't do that!

Meanwhile, up in KS, my friend Ruben in Wichita's basement is flooded. This weather system is crazy wide.

And here they come again….we live on the edge of the Hill Country…crazy weather! So sad for those who lost their lives and homes…we had planned to drive over to check things out today and see if we could help in any way, but the storms are coming.

“The State of Texas has taken brisk action in dispatching all available resources to aid those affected by this severe weather system, and I strongly urge all Texans to exercise every possible precaution to ensure their safety and the safety of their families and neighbors,” said Governor Abbott. “My thoughts and prayers are with all the communities that are suffering as a result of this weather disaster, and I am grateful for the first responders who have worked tirelessly to provide shelter, care and resources to all impacted areas.”

I just went on YT to see if there were any comments...

The guy inside is FINE!! Apparently, he listened to the radio the entire time, and lights stayed on too!! Someone said it is a high end Jeep, trail rated, so it was insulated for water...best commercial EVER for a Jeep!!!

Of course, this was the reports on YT, and nothing MSM related. But those are local people on the ground, so...take it or leave it.

I choose to take it - as the alternative is, well...

Man...this area has been dealing with drought for the past few years - and now this!

Talking about a tornado in Marble Falls - my best friend lived there until she passed, and her daughter still does. I left Austin about 3 years ago...and miss it every single day!!

Lake Travis (a major lake in Austin) was down about 50 FEET (from considered full) at the beginning of spring...and it has risen 7 feet in the past 12 hours!!!

Tornadoes confirmed in Hill Country...

Will say it again...God Bless Texas!!!

Our hearts and prayers are with everyone in this area right now.

Just came out of the closet...literally...with my cat (wasn't too happy). When the tornado warning expired, the weatherman said it was the first time in six hours there hadn't been a warning...but they're expecting more. Also some torrential rains...so expecting more flooding. I know we wanted the drought to break but hate that it had to be this way. My heart breaks for the missing and displaced throughout the area.

Thank you! I will to choose to believe it. ;)

Can I take the mattress out of the bathroom now? Last 2 hours over all Central TX has been/still is intense but I think the worst is past for me.
Tornado confirmed on the ground in Cameron County now: http://kxan.com/live-stream-2/
That break from no warnings didn't last 10 minutes.

Hope the clear skies find their way over you soon...and before dark! Nothing worse than hearing that siren in the pitch black...living in southeast Missouri now, I hear it a few times at least every spring. And my siren is literally 2 houses across the street from my house...it is such a terrifying sound!
