"Father C.W. Sullivan School is also under a hold and secure, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board says."

"Despite several attempts by CityNews to get information on the lockdown, Peel police media officer Matt Small refused to provide details on the investigation. Small would only say it was a police investigation in the area.

However, police tweeted that there was no cause for concern at this time."

"Brampton school lockdown caused by 'swatting' false alarm, police say"

" Peel Regional Police media relations officer Lilly Fitzpatrick told reporters that police received a call where someone threatened that a person with a weapon, “was going to come to the school and harm individuals.” The individual also made a threatening call to staff at
at Gordon Graydon Senior Public School.

She said police immediately “got the feeling this was one of those swatting calls,” a false alarm call meant to “generate the most massive emergency services response possible.”

Nevertheless, police tactical and canine units conducted a full search of Gordon Graydon, and did not find any suspicious people or weapons"

"A threatening call that Peel police said turned out to be a hoax sent five schools in Peel region in lockdown or hold-and-secure mode Tuesday morning.

Peel police are considering releasing the audio of Tuesday’s call to help identify the person who phoned in the fake threat, Const. Lily Fitzpatrick.

She warned “swatting,” or phoning in fake threats to try to trigger a big police response including tactical SWAT teams, is a “serious criminal matter” and a waste of police and paramedics’ resources.

“This is something that has to stop. I can’t see how this is remotely funny,” Fitzpatrick said.

Police had received a call from someone early Tuesday saying people were armed and on their way to Gordon Graydon Senior Public School in Brampton to harm people, Fitzpatrick said".

This is a separate incident or at least a first incident - a family in Richmond Hill (north of the GTA) had a swat team called to their home by a prankster (if one can call them that) posing as a son that lived in the home saying that his father was shooting a gun in the home and had shot his wife/mother of the caller. This needs to be nailed on the head and quickly if at all possible imo.

Thanks, was confused for a second because it was surprising that someone else would do such a thing so soon afterward.

Voice recording from the weekend ' swatting '.

imo.

I find these types of pranks really disturbing but in this case I find it especially disturbing. Thursday is the 40th aniversary of the Brampton Centennial Secondary School shooting. A shooting that caused so so so many ripple effects in a time when people weren't aware of PTSD/trauma/counseling,etc. It was seen as a good thing to just "not talk about it". Many students were traumatized and had lasting effects that included self-treating mental health issues with addictions, etc.etc.

This is the first year the shooting is being publically acknowledged on Thursday with a memorial service for those who lost their lives, and those who effectively lost their lives but lived.

ETA: I wish I could slap these people upside the head. I wish I could let my mother talk to them, the person who had to see her classmates brain matter on her classroom ceiling the monday after the shooting because it hadn't been cleaned up well enough. her friends who found pools of blood still in the bathroom where one of the victims was shot. The mother who was teaching at school the day her son was killed just feet away from her in the bathroom.

" Police have charged a 16-year-old New Tecumseth boy with a number of offences in connection with multiple ‘swatting’ calls.

According to police, a number of high-risk calls which have required “a high level of police and emergency service response” have been received by provincial police in Nottawasaga beginning in February.

Details on the specific dates, times and locations of the calls were not immediately provided by police".
