Washington Post:

Elderly woman’s body found in suitcase in train station

A suitcase abandoned more than a month ago at Japan’s Tokyo Station was found over the weekend with an elderly woman’s body zipped up inside it, according to police.

The bright yellow suitcase had been sitting in a coin locker near the station’s Marunouchi South Exit since April 26. Since no one had come forward to claim it, a worker at Tokyo’s main train station opened it on Sunday — and discovered the decomposing body. “There was an abnormal odor when we opened the suitcase,” a spokesman told reporters. “Then we saw hair.”

A year after an elderly woman’s body was found stuffed in a yellow suitcase in a locker at JR Tokyo Station, police on Tuesday released a reproduced portrait of the woman as well as the suitcase itself...

The woman appears to have been in her 70s or older, about 140 cm tall, with rheumatoid arthritis in both hands. She had few teeth and possibly wore some kind of dentures.
