HI - Bobbie 'Jackie' Carnathan, 62, Hakalau, 27 May 2015

    Bobbie “Jackie” Carnathan

Family Searches for Missing Kona Woman
The family of a 62-year-old Kona woman, Bobbie “Jackie” Carnathan, is desperately seeking answers after she went missing on Wednesday, May 27.

Chris Loos, Hawai’i Police Department spokeswoman, confirmed to Big Island Now that a missing person report was filed on Saturday.

Carnathan, who goes by the name Jackie, last had verified contact at 11 a.m. on Wednesday when she went ziplining at Botanical World Adventures in Hakalau.

“She lives by herself and does not have any friends on the island yet. We have been working with the police to help find her since we live in Texas. We have been doing everything possible to track her down and to see her last known movements by looking at her phone records, credit cards, etc. but we have come up short,” Erin Housewright, daughter of Carnathan.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

I wonder how they know what she was wearing if they are in Texas.

That's exactly what I was thinking: clothing. Maybe the zip line company takes video of the customers. It's quite a detailed description.

I just looked at her daughter's fb. They have a flyer with a picture of Jackie doing the zipline in the clothes described so the company does take video/pictures.

If she fell wouldn't they have found her by now? Was it a zipline and also bridges like it shows her walking on? Is the daughter's FB public? I don't have an account.

The flyer picture shows her walking with outstretched arms on a wobbly wooden slat bridge. There are people behind her too. I'm not sure if it leads to the beginning of the zip line course or it's at the end walking back out of the area. She is wearing the clothing described in the missing article. Since there are other people near her, I'm sure she didn't fall.

According to Goggle map, that is 3.4 miles from where she was last seen at Botanical World Adventures.

ETA: Well, maybe. Map is kind of strange and I am NOT a map reader.

There is no mention of her car in the zipline parking lot. Maybe she drove away and was exploring the area. Of course that is assuming the body is Jackie's.
I can see the map here....not sure if everyone else can. It's in the general area of the zipline place.

She was on this side of the island. I thought she was in Kona. We have had a lot of rain so she could have slipped on a mossy rock, hit her head and floated down the stream.

They put a zip line in??? Really? Ugh. Such a beautiful place, a fabulous botanical garden - pre zip line.

The Find Jackie fb page fills in some questions with a very detailed timeline
    https://www.facebook.com/FindJackieC...?tab=page_info

She took the bus to the zip line.
She had lunch nearby with some other people on the zipline tour.
She had 2 hrs to kill before her bus ride back so they believe she went for a walk.
She was planning on leaving Hawaii June 1, moving back to Texas after a one week Alaskan cruise.

Sadly I do think this woman's body is Jackie's. As Plumeria said, she probably slipped on rocks.

Sad to say that the woman's body found matches the clothing Jackie was wearing.
