Thanks for the new thread, KateB (and nice to meetcha :)).

Yes, thanks, KateB, :drumroll: and Hello to Ya!

And an extra thanks for listing the prior threads and links! It is such a nice help for someone new coming onto the thread -- and with this case it may be more likely since we will have a new trial coming up. Some folks may want to join this case with us then!

For any WS'ers new to this case, here is a good Boston Globe article on AH's growing-up years and college years. It was first published in August, 2013, but it is a very good article which may help us understand AH a little better. Please know that I am not trying to mitigate anything about AH, but it does explain, perhaps, why he does seem to have a "dark side," or whatever you may wish to name it.

Inside the double life of Aaron Hernandez

Prosecutors urge court not to keep Aaron Hernandez's latest legal moves from public

TAUNTON – The Bristol County District Attorney's office is asking the Superior Court not to seal the latest legal maneuvers in the Aaron Hernandez murder case.

(snip)
His legal team wants to keep at least some of these moves under seal, making documents unavailable for public inspection and keeping the courtroom closed during hearings. The DA's office is pushing back, saying the law doesn't allow it.

"The law places a heavy burden on any party seeking to impound court documents or to exclude the public from court proceedings," wrote Assistant District Attorney Roger L. Michel, Jr., in a court filing on Thursday. "Impoundment is always the exception to the rule."

Michel argues that since Hernandez's arrest and trial generated nationwide interest, the public has a right to stay informed in the interest of maintaining the integrity of the court.

AH writes a fan a note:

Hernandez sounds surprisingly positive in it. He thanks the woman for her support, says that he is "doing well," and insinuates that he gets up every morning with a smile on his face. There's even an "lol" at the end of it. You can read the entire letter here:

That is BS. He is not smiling and happy in his concrete closet. That is all part of his cocky act, imo.
