Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Uh, are we talking downtown core like around the Bessborough, or downtown core like the edge of the Alphaghetto* by 20th? Saskatoon's downtown area encompasses aggressive but harmless panhandlers all the way to drug gangs stabbing people.

    * The charming Alphaghetto consists of lettered avenues, the only part of the city named that way. It makes it easy to tell newcomers where not to go though!

I am wondering the same thing. I've went for many long walks at night by the river and it is pretty harmless. Now towards 20th is a whole different story. Even towards 33rd is getting pretty bad.
