NY - Aniesa Wood, 2, beaten to death, Staten Island, 23 July 2005
Cops are eying a baby-sitter - who once did time for manslaughter - in the brutal killing of a 2-year-old Staten Island girl, police said yesterday.
Julius Butler, 32, who is on parole for a 1991 slaying in the Bronx, was watching his girlfriend's daughter, Aniesa Wood, when the tot died July 23, police said.
The child suffered blunt trauma to the abdomen, contusions to the bowels and other injuries, according to the city medical examiner's office.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Can't find any updates about little Aniesa Wood Julius Butler was charged, but I can't find out if the charges were eventually dropped or not. Anyone else have more luck?
