NC - Stephany White, 30, found murdered, Conover, 20 Aug 2005
Robert Layne Windsor’s mother remembers a loving son. Then came his drug addiction.
That started a downward spiral that led to him being a fugitive from a murder warrant in his ex-girlfriend’s death.
Windsor, 36, of Statesville, is wanted in the death of Stephany Jo White, 30, of Conover. Her body was found Saturday night in the trunk of her Ford Taurus in Charlotte.
An autopsy report Monday revealed White died from suffocation.
On Wednesday, Windsor’s mother, who did not want to be named, spoke with the news media. She begged for her son to surrender to law enforcement officers.
“I love him, and I’ll be there for him through this whole thing,” she said through tears. “But I don’t want him or anyone else to get hurt. He’s got to give himself up and face this. It’s not going to go away.”

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?
