A 14-year-old boy allegedly shot his 38-year-old mother after an argument at their home, police said.

The shooting took place Thursday night in the 15400 block of Wisconsin Street in Detroit...

...The mother was taken to a local hospital and remains in serious condition...

...The suspect is identified as Tommie Lee Grady-Pettway, black male, age 14, 5'8", 135 lbs., he was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt with purple sleeves, and black and red basketball shorts...

Detroit — Although the incident is still under investigation, police believe a 14-year-old boy shot and wounded his mother Wednesday evening because she was set to punish him for doing something wrong.

Police have been searching for the boy, identified as Tommie Lee Grady-Pettway, since the shooting took place at about 8 p.m. at their home in 15400 block of Wisconsin.

“I was told initially that she was going to punish him,” said Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt.

“He got mad and got a gun.” ...

DETROIT (WWJ) – The manhunt for a 14-year-old Detroit boy who allegedly shot his mother during an argument has been going on for more than 12 hours.

Police are looking for Tommie Lee Grady-Pettway. He’s described as a African-American male, about 5’8″ tall and 135 lbs. with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with purple sleeves, and black and red basketball shorts.

Authorities Friday morning have been focusing their efforts in a largely vacant neighborhood near the Lodge Freeway and Wyoming Avenue on the city’s west side. Neighbors in the area are advised to use caution. The teen is considered to be armed and dangerous...
