IL - Chuck Mitchell, Belleville, 21 Aug 2005
SEARCH FOR BELLEVILLE MAN WITH HIS MOTORCYCLE The search is on for a missing Belleville man. Chuck Mitchell went for a motorcycle ride Sunday night and never returned. Family members say it wasn't unusual for him to hit the road at night not knowing his exact route. Sister-in-law Kathi Travaglini said, "He really didn't say much Sunday night before he left, which is unfortunate because it doesn't help anyone who is trying to find him. We've just been going on where he liked to ride his bike in the past." The search for Mitchell extends across St. Clair, Monroe and Randolph counties in Illinois. Family members say he does take medication for a heart condition and they have no reason to believe he disappeared on his own. Mitchell is about 6' 2" tall weighing about 220 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a burn on his left leg. He was wearing a blue green shirt and khaki shorts. His Triumph motorcycle is green. Anyone with info on his whereabouts is asked to call St. Clair County sheriff's department.

I wonder if he had an accident along the way and is down a cliff or something like that and no one has seen him yet? I'm sure that his family is worried sick.
I hope that LE is at least checking along roads that he normally rode on to see if he went over the side at some point. Hoping for the best.

There are so many "back roads" in this area, and without knowing which ones he travelled, it will be very difficult to find him if it was the accident scenario. I know that one of the local articles mentioned that he liked to ride on the back roads.
I don't know why, but I don't feel that he met with foul play. I think the accident scenario is very likely. Or the possiblity that he just took off for a while (although I don't know if he had $$ and his cards haven't been used since late that night).
If they ask for volunteers, I'll certainly help search as this is in my area.

I am from the area as well. The local paper said he used his debit card at the MotoMart in Red Bud - and there are so many possible places. I don't claim to be psychic or anything, but, I keep thinking of Foley Park and the road that is on - runs from 159 over to a road, I can't recall the name of that runs to Millstadt or to the left to Columbia.
He was missing since Sunday and nothing in the local news till Friday. I wonder why.

He's been found. Unfortunately, he was found dead in a creek a couple of miles from his home. He ran off the road and into the creek.

That is really sad. The funny thing is I was on that road Tuesday morning and didn't see a thing.
