A 20-year old Scott County woman yesterday pleaded guilty to complicity charges related to the murder of a pregnant Scott County teenager. Minutes later, she said she wasnt sure why.
As Dena M. Williams stood in front of Judge Robert Johnson in Scott Circuit Court, he asked her if she was pleading guilty to charges of complicity to murder and complicity to tampering with physical evidence because she was, in fact, guilty.
She hesitated; and as her attorney leaned in, she muttered, Yes.
Williams plea was part of deal she reached with prosecutors to avoid her trial, which was scheduled to start Sept. 15. Under the deal, Williams will spend 20 years in prison and be required to serve 85 percent of the term. She is not eligible for probation.
