A 65-year-old man taking an early morning walk in Buchen, Neckar-Odenwald in Germany was attacked and killed by a circus elephant called Baby today. She was eventually recaptured.

An investigation has been launched into how the elephant escaped as police believe it cannot have happened accidentally. Baby seriously injured a man in 2010 and broke a 12-year-old's jaw in 2012.

The circus, Circus Luna, has been criticized by a local veterinarian office and PETA over conditions the animals are kept in. PETA wants baby taken away from the circus.

I believe it is entirely possible an animal could escape a circus in Germany accidentally as it wouldn't be the first time. I don't understand why circuses are allowed to drag wild animals all over the country on highways with no speed limit, to little towns with no secure outside space for them.

They are also allowed to plaster their billboards anywhere without permission it seems - including my garden fence. I think they should be banned - people circuses like Cirque du Soleil are much more awesome, in my opinion.

Yet another animal--along with whales and porpoises--that shouldn't be kept in captivity.
