GUILTY UK - Jordan Watson, 14, murdered in Carlisle cemetery, 16 June 2015

George Thomson, 18, Brahnn Finley, 19, and Daniel Johnston, 19, pleaded not guilty, via video link, during a hearing at Carlisle Crown Court...

The body of Jordan, from Ridley Road, Currock, Carlisle, was found in a secluded corner of Upperby Cemetery, on Manor Road, on June 16...

They will stand trial on January 12.

A work colleague of Mr Thomson, who cannot be identified, told the court the now-19-year-old said he had killed three people on behalf of gangs in Manchester and had once been shot himself...

The witness also claimed that the day after the murder, he saw Mr Thomson trawling news websites looking for details of Jordan's death and pumped his fist every time he came across an item...

The prosecution claim Mr Thomson carried out the murder because he was obsessed with Jordan's 14-year-old girlfriend and wanted him "out of the picture".

The crown court trial - now in its fourth day - today focused on the visit as prosecution and defence teams, along with the judge, examined the area in Carlisle’s Upperby Cemetery where the 14 year old’s body was discovered...

The visit lasted just under one hour, with the jury escorted to various key points, including the grave of Johnston's father, Bobby, who died in December 2014 and who is buried in the opposite corner of the graveyard to where Jordan's body was found.

The grave was visited because Johnston and Finley told police that the reason they were in the cemetery on the night of June 15 was to check on that grave.

Murder accused George Thomson told one of his alleged accomplices: “I slit his throat”, the Jordan Watson trial heard.

Brahnn Finley, 19, who is also accused of murder, said Thomson made the claim – and then laughed – during a conversation after a fight he had in a graveyard.

Finley said he did not recognise the other person involved in the “scuffle” at the time – but now knew it was Jordan, 14.

Thomson, who had an “obsessive desire” for Jordan’s 14-year-old girlfriend, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 27 years for murdering his teenage rival.

His co-defendant Finley was also jailed for life with a minimum term of 14 years...

Johnston was found guilty of his manslaughter and sentenced to 10 years in prison after being cleared of murder.
