There were bizarre allegations Friday in the trial of a man accused of killing his estranged wife. 56-year-old Lester Volrie is accused of killing Joyce Volrie (pictured below and two the right) in June of last year. Joyce died after she was shot and left for dead on the side of Walden Road in Beaumont.

Beaumont police investigator Jesus T’aimao testified Friday that Lester admitted to hiring a hit man, but in a written statement, Lester said the hit man was supposed to kill Joyce’s sister Geraldine—not Joyce.

Volrie said he believed Joyce and her sister Geraldine had a gay, incestual relationship.

What people believe and what actually is are two totally diferent things.

It took a Jefferson County jury just 15 minutes to sentence a man to life in prison for shooting his wife on the side of a Beaumont road last year. Lester Eugene Volrie was convicted Monday of shooting and killing Joyce Volrie last June and leaving her body on the side of Walden Road.

It took that jury only 45 total minutes in deliberations to convict and sentence Lester.
