According to the Facebook page for Southeast Louisiana Underwater Search and Recovery, the group will return to the area on April 25th. The post also states that the group has been studying sonar images from the lake and can see something that could possibly be human remains.

Sonar pictures show a tree that could hold the weight of a human body.

They'll use ROV equipment during the dives this week. It could take days. They plan to be at the lake starting Tuesday.

I spent every day of summer at Laurel Lake from when I was an infant to when I was 9 years old. Then we went for a month until I was 13. My late grandfather had a beautiful houseboat he bought in the late 70s and fixed up.

I always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody.

I follow Lex18 and this popped up in my newsfeed.

Divers are being guided by sonar and believe the area in question is 120 feet from the bottom of the lake. They have spent the better part of the morning searching, but there is no word on if the search has been successful.
    What a handsome young man.

This is an uncomfortable question but I have to ask - what kind of remains would they expect to find after all this time in the water? I could see if it's a body in a sealed cooler or something like that, but free floating after a fall from a boat? Wouldn't everything fall apart and scatter?

"We are looking for a specific tree in a group of trees down there, that we obtained some video images in July of last year," said Mark Michaud with the Southeast Louisiana Underwater Search and Recovery Team...

The tree is 60 feet tall, possibly an oak, that is 120 feet down from the water's surface.

I don't know much, but I know bodies decompose differently underwater. It's (hot) air that causes the most decomp.
