wow, it looks from the surveillance pics that one guy is wearing a towel or something wrapped around him. I'm sure it is just the sepia tones or something, but creepy and sad. 4-5 gunman? Why so many? There is a lot more to this one IMO.

“It wasn’t random,” Detective Lieutenant James Rackey of the Bradenton Police Department told The Daily Beast. “We believe the gentleman was targeted and the female just happened to be there at the time.”

According to Narins, Deneus was a medical worker in a nursing home and Brooks worked in landscaping.

Brooks was a registered felon in Manatee County and had been arrested 11 times since 2005 on
charges ranging from marijuana, meth, and cocaine possession and distribution, to failure to stop for police and fleeing to elude, as well as robbery by sudden snatching. His most recent drug charge was in 2009.

Police said at least one victim was shot in the head.

Police said that there are "calls for service" to this home in the past, but none were about violence or related to drugs.

Don't know if the Esther Deneus referred to at the link below is the same woman, but a person with this same name recently testified in the court case of her former boyfriend's murder. Wonder if this is a revenge killing. Add that angle and the fact her boyfriend is a convicted felon, there's a whole lot of possibilities.

Poor kids who have to live in these environments....

Judge rules death penalty still applies in two Bradenton murder cases

A judge has ruled the death penalty remains a potential sentence for two accused murderers in separate high profile cases in Bradenton.

Circuit Court Judge Diana Moreland ruled that the death penalty was never completely invalidated by a recent Supreme Court decision. The judge said the previous capital sentencing statute still served as a deterrent, warning Devin Chandler and Terez Jones of the punishment they could face if they committed first-degree murder.

Moreland issued similar orders in both cases, denying the defense motions to strike the state's intent to seek the death penalty and to find the death penalty is no longer a potential sentence.

The two attorneys defending one of three men charged in the fatal shooting of a Bradenton couple during a home invasion in July 2015 have withdrawn from his case.

    (...)

On Friday morning — less than a week after the one-year anniversary of the murders — all three men appeared in court before Circuit Judge Diana Moreland for a case-management hearing.

Byron Hileman Jr. of the Office of Regional Counsel, and his unnamed co-chair were granted requests to withdraw as McNear’s attorney after citing ethical conflicts.
