UNSOLVED MI - Detroit, BlkFem, 18-30, GSW, in vacant building, Aug'13

The body of an Unidentified African American female was found in an abandoned building on August 10th 2013 in Detroit Michigan. She was found hours after dying. She is also a homicide victim according to her news article story.

She also had black shoulder length hair, brown eyes, and thin eyebrows with no obvious tattoos. It is currently unknown what clothes she was wearing.
ESTIMATED AGE: 18-30 years old
HEIGHT & WEIGHT: 5"5 & 114lbs

I looked at this case a while ago and she has been taken off of the NamUs site. I was wondering if she was identified.

I couldn't find any info about her on the NamUs site either. but i figured it was probably just a glitch or mistake on the site because i didnt find any sources that stated that she has been identified.

the same thing happend with the michelle garvey case too.

could it be possible that she has been identified but her name hasn't been released to the public?

Most of the time if a case is removed from NamUs they've been identified but the family could be choosing to keep it quiet.

I find that very strange. I saw that there's no info about her on the doe network either. But there's still appeal videos for her on YouTube. Doesn't NamUs announce when someone has been identified?
you would think they would at least let people know that she's been identified even if they don't release her name.

I remember looking at her case on Namus a while ago. I thought she was identified. Not positive, but I don't think Namus announces when someone is identified. They just delete or disable the page and you get a permission error. LE or her loved ones would be the ones to make an announcement, and they may not want to.

You can call the medical examiner or the police department to see if she was identified.

is there a way i could email them instead?

UPDATE:
I believe I found a way to email them here: http://www.waynecounty.com/hhs/932.htm
But I'm not exactly sure how I should word the message to them though.
Should I just send them a link to the news story so they know specifically who I'm talking about and then ask them if she's been identified yet?

I would contact Sarah Krebs at the ME's office. She seems generally quite responsive. And yeah, I think that's how I would approach it.

I was wrong--she's a state trooper, not at the ME's office. But I know she has interacted with WS before (self included) and might be able to help you:

There was also a young woman who went missing on a college break while visiting a boyfriend Detroit I think in last December. She looks similar, but couldn't be the victim in this case. A thread was started for her.

this jane doe was found deceased in august of 2013 so it's not her.

I just got an email back from Sarah. She HAS been identified.
I wasn't sure if I should ask for her name though because I thought the girl's family wanted to keep it private. Either way, it's really sad what happened to this young woman

I hope she can rest in peace now <3
I still find it very strange that they never released her name. just because if I would've had a family member who passed away in a horrible way like this, I'd want people to remember them other than the horrible way they died

Has her name been released? I can't seem to find any information on this case. I remember watching something on youtube and a commenter said she looked like a missing girl in Florida.

they never alerted the public on what happened to her. the police officer i emailed did tell me that she's been identified. but she never told me anything else. i didnt think it'd be right for me to ask. im assuming her family just doesnt want to say anything i guess.
